Hey P,

I was just wondering what can be done to combat the bad gas I've been experiencing from dietary fats? I'm currently experimenting with a higher fat offseason diet rather than the traditional higher carb diet...I'm staying leaner but the gas I'm experiencing is terrible! Thanks in advance!

Generally the gas is not from fats its from the protein...how much fats and protein are you eating per meal?

Better yet, what brand of protein powder are you using?

I remember when I studied natural medicine a long time ago we had learn the gas are the fermentation of either proteins or carbs, they said fermentation of protein will make the smelly gas like methane type and the fermentation of carbs with make an 'alcohol' type of fermentation which make non smelly but more voluminous gas.

Like the big guys says, my bet is it's from protein that contains lactose, or dairy product.

That's interesting. My experience has been when i do just protein and fats i have no gas, add carbs from gluten products and it gets bad. anything from vegetable's also is bad. Precontest dieting is almost gasless. lol offseason is a whole other matter. although i also do high fat high protein and low carbs the last year and a half. the cheats every 3 or 4 days has its ups and downs.

Right now my carb sources are concentrated closer to my workout time frame, but in the other meals my fats and protein are approx 40p, and 20-30f.

Currently using whey isolate from Canadianprotein.com.

Hmm. Well my only carb sources right now are from oats and sweet potatoes. My farts weren't bad until I added avocados into the diet. I took the avocados out a couple days ago and replaced them with natty pb. The farts are still there but not as bad. When I had avocados in the diet I literally felt like my stomach was going to explode from holding in the gas while at work lol!

it's the fiber in the avocados...I'd switch out the oats for something gluten free also.

I used the same carbs before (oats and yams). I replaced the oats with cream of rice (brown with breakfast, white post-workout) and feel a lot better. I had some gas problems too...
