So I am one who from my early teen years has always had bad acne break outs (back, shoulders, ingrown hairs from shaving, face etc.) and only got worse through sweating, training, supplementing, *supplementing*. I personally didn't want to go the route of taking Accutane and I have tried EVERYTHING over the counter. My doctor knows my full background of what I do and she recommended Minocycline, an oral anti biotic. I've been taking this at 100mg daily in correlation with another topical anti biotic for about 8 weeks now and I have fully cleared up my skin. This has been the first time in my entire life without acne and it has even reduced the tons of scars on my arms from pre contest shaving. I highly recommend this stuff guys, so if you don't want to go the route of taking Accutane, ask your doctor about Minocycline.
Post your results if you choose to try it!

I took it for a full year. The problem is minocycline is an antibiotic, so it will weaken your natural gut flora as **** and it will lead with times to various problems, like infections and digestive problems.
Not to mention that as soon as you stop taking it, couple weeks laters, skin bacteria are back and more powerful than before (with your immune defense weakened - gut flora) so you break out and the cycle begins again.
So, no, I don't think minocycline (minocin) is the miracle/long term solution :(
i used it years ago and it didnt do much of anything...had to use accutane...

Thats what I've heard too Ol' D, thanks for your input. I've happened to do a lot of my own research on the subject as well and have come up with what I have experienced to be a solution. First off, I believe Minocycline should be cycled no more than 3 months at a time, followed by time off. There are also two topical agents which I have found to work very well for myself. One being the anti biotic cream Gentamicin and the other a combination of benzoyl peroxide 5% and an anti biotic agent Clindoxyl Gel. Clindoxyl works very quickly and very effectively, especially for adult acne without drying out my skin too bad.... for a certain time, and then the acne comes back despite still using the gel. I have been experimenting with cycling the two gels back and forth as the same problem that has cursed me for years is that the gel works for about a month and then stops. (I believe my body begins to adapt to the constant use of either one and stops responding well and the problem arises yet again).
If the minocyline is working for you Ol' Dirty, use it in the 3 month period with the Gentamicin. Take a break from the Minocycline for the 4th month and cycle it again, still using the topical agent on your time off.
If the combination of the two agents stop working while still on Minocycline (like me) while on your cycle, change 1. Here is where you change the topical gel to Clindoxyl once a day before bed. From my experience I HAVE to cycle the two, keeping the topical anti biotic as a constant as its even in the Clindoxyl.
During the 4th month continue cycling the topical agents Clindoxyl and Gentamicin when and if your acne arises or gets worse yet again. So for me this is how I would cycle this, using 2 week periods for a constant but only changing it when the acne and lesions return worse than before. SO:
-Weeks 0-2-
Minocycline 100mg, Gentamicin once the morning after showering and once at night prior to be
-Weeks 3-4-
Minocycline 100mg, Clindoxyl gel once prior to bed after showering
-Weeks 5-6-
Same as weeks 0-2
Repeat until week 12 and then drop the Minocyclin:
-Weeks 12-14-
Topicals only: Either Gentamicin or Clindoxyl
Repeat the same process if needed for weeks 14-16
Then weeks 16-28
Minocyclin 100mg, Gentamicin and repeat as needed.
As there are VERY limited studies for cycling acne medications and topical agents I have found a way to bring this down to a science and this works for me! Try this for yourself Ol' D and let me know how it works out.

Differin XP is another one that worked very well for me. But again only for a limited time.... Take my theory and use the same principals with these products. I hope to hear some positive feed back from anyone who's struggled like me

I've had acne on my back/shoulders since I was 14, long before I ever touched AAS. I seen my doctor about it and she was just very rude about it and told me she wont do anything for me, that its my fault because of the steroids and that I can come back and see her after I stop using them. Anyone else have this issue?

Up until this year yes. Now I have a wonderful doctor who listens to what i have to say. My doctor knows everythings thats been in my system and after explanation of most of the things, she has seen that I have a great deal of knowledge in what I take and why. Most doctors absolutely hate bodybuilding and think we're all a bunch of idiot meat heads. Thats just some of them. My doctor will spend the time to listen to my theories and applications of certain compounds I do take and I've actually asked her for certain things (for my attention defecit, which up until now I never knew I had) and with good explanation she will give me the good and bad of whatever I take. For instance after my car accident, I asked her what she knew about peptides and she actually agreed that they were incredible amino acids that she never knew bodybuilders would take. I asked about taking them to speed up my recovery and she said that there was a good chance that they could help and there are no real side effects to taking them. I believe they have helped too. You just need to find a new aged doctor with a good knowledge and good people skills brother.

I find its more so ignorance than anything. I believe a lot of older doctors feel they need to give the feeling to their patients that they know everything about everything and their way is the best way. Just like we all have different methods of training, nutrition etc. most doctors believe in the way they diagnose without keeping up to date with new methods and other aspects of the field... Its just an attitude thing I find. I can't even explain how happy I've been since I've begun with my new doctor. So their is still hope

LOL yeah I do agree.
I can relate to that, my last doctor took my weight and height to get my BMI and got 27.7 (I was 190lbs at 5'9.5'') which put me overweight near obesity and he told me I should loose weight even though I wear 32'' pants and have no belly or else) so I could be around 154 LBS (even with 0% BF I weight more then that!). I know they don't have a clue, BBers know more about this sh!t then them, so very politely I tried to gave him a free hint : ''Maybe that's because I train and that my muscle mass is higher then usual ??''---- he said ---- ''No, training does not make you gain more muscle, only muscle tone!!'' --- I had to squeeze my teeth altogether no to laugh out loud --- I said nothing, you can't argue with that.
I figured that this guy who is the perfect example of an ectomorph tried to train once in his life (surely with the energy of a florist in his break time) and did not get any results of it and classified training as that. I dunno but it was pretty funny.

Based on BMI most professional athletes would be "overweight". Ronnie Coleman stage weight 295~ lbs would have his BMI at over 40 lol
