I'm an IFBB amateur from Egypt. No need to be rude. I don't need to qualify according to your federation. I already won the nationals back home 3 years ago as a light middle weight. This time i'm heavier.

I don't see how that would have any bearing on Canadian competitions...do you have this in writing from Mark?

Not having to qualify because of competitions in another country would be a first in my book...but weirder things have happened. There's no doubt you would qualify up the ranks though. So good luck with your prep...i'll be following along.

wwwow to the above comment. And yyyeah I was here, and left because of that very attitude by Mr. Ironwill. Very welcoming.

As for the ones who asked how I'm qualified, 1. I won the nationals back home (but that didn't qualify me) I placed 4th in IFBB Oman Nationals, and when you place top 5 in an affiliated ifbb national contest, regardless of the place, you qualify to nationals anywhere in the world IFBB affiliated.

If you're in the light-heavy weight class there will be a few guys to watch out for like... Tony Searle, John Aeillo and Greg Doucette (who will be very tough to beat) Bring your A-game to this one because the competition here will be tough. Looking forward to your updates.

You , or whoever is in the pic is a big dude. I'm curious as to why you don't show your face or give us your name. Wouldn't be any doubt about your identity then. But if it's a dude from Egypt and that dude is you then all the best and good luck in the show.

Haha I'm not from mutant my friend I believe thats just an ad on the right side of a few peoples comments as a sponsor to the board. Yes I've known Greg for years however, he will be a very difficult competitor to beat. I can easily say that he will be bringing his best packages to date. I believe he out of all people just may win the overall. The Doucette brothers always bring their best. (you too Steve!)

Yeah it seems to be a tough class, i'm calm though, just interested to see more how I'd look like since this was my first off season to hit 200 pounds. Greg will be tough to beat, but I feel I'd be tough to beat to, I know i'll be the thickest guy on stage, no question, and entire side chest pose, chest, and upper back i'm 100% sure of, but Greg's legs are pretty impressive, Tony's got shoulders and width, John has a good balance and height which could either come to his advantage, or the other way around. You guys asked for a front pic, here's me at 176 lbs from my last IFBB show, note that i started cutting down from 183...This year i'm cutting from 197-200. Plus i'm the shortest in the class, it'll be interesting, make some buzz, you guys got me very exited hehe!!

Well heck, you need a national level competitor slogan under your name, maybe MP will hook you up....I somehow think your ISP will be from Toronto area though, not montreal, then you have to prove it to get the slogan.....I sure would ask for one if i earned it....Not that crazy twirp slogan, but then again...lol...
Eric it is soooo easy to steal pics from a fb page, and read up on his life....lol...come on man....
Hey maybe i am wrong, if i am, i will apologize, no problems.....I just dont think i will be apologizing though...

Should be an interesting show. My brother will be tough to beat no doubt. I fully expect him to nail his conditioning like never before. If he looks like he did in his last 2 shows last month, I would say the light-heavies will all have a tough time taking top spot. But the thing is, I expect him to look a hell of a lot better than the last 2 shows - in which case it will be a showdown for the heavy and super heavy to try to knock him out of the overall title. We don't mess around here out East!! Nova scotia is looking to take 3 overall titles back to back to back!!

Great physique by the way Durrah. You'd be my pick for the middleweight (under 176) title - but if you do happen to move up to light heavies, I still see you placing amonst the top guys there...

It'll be difficult to cut under 185, at a certain point in contest prep I start gaining weight from added muscle. I think i'll land in the 185's up to 187. Too bad there's no heavy middle weight which is in between like international IFBB. This is a pick 14 weeks out, I'm not that much outa shape, and I was about 195 there, so I doubt i'll be able to go down to 176..

I said the same sort of thing, and I ended up almost 10 pounds lighter in the end than I thought I'd be! I don't think 176 is out of the question - I am talking dehydrated to the max weigh in flat weight... Many people don't look at the scale, and end up weighing in 10 pounds more than stage weight just from a little water cut (either that, or junk load and stay the same buy look bloated and smooth).

If you are 195 in that pic, is this morning weight? or gym weight? Reason I ask is because if you are more like 190 am, at that level of conditioning, I really think 176 is do-able. But like you say, if you are the type that grows into shows then it may not be the most realistic thing to do.

I can cut down to 176, but i know i'll be losing a lot of muscle for it, at least 6 pounds or so. This being my last show, I wouldn't mind doing that to win the class. Plus being the overall is so much fun, you'd be surprised some middle weights in the past were awarded a pro card!

Unless you are a Canadian Citizen I don't think you are qualified to compete at the Canadian nationals. I could be wrong, but one email to Mark can fix that. Basically, Unless Mark has given you the green light that you can compete, do yourself a favor and get in touch with him asap, because you don't want to be surprised when you get to Edmonton and find out you are ineligable.

you'd be surprised how much water one can lose to make weight without dropping muscle. I surprised myself in my last show, that's for sure! water just disappeared from me but didn't effect measurements or fullness. 1 week out I thought I would have to cut water early to make weight, then all of a sudden, a little carb depletion, sodium cutting and bang - lost 6-7 pounds like it was nothing. weighed in at 172 drinking right past the weigh in time.

I dunno, I am looking at your pics and I really think you should consider middleweight. Not that you won't do well as a lt heavy, but I think you are still suited to a 176 class. Try not to let the scale influence the decision based on how heavy you are now compared to your last prep. There are way too many variables... Just get crazy crazy CRAZY ripped, and when you have a week to go, then make the choice of 'do I want to dehydrate like mad, or not'...

You see what I mean by change completely in 2 months, the second picture with the red trunks Is where I was before starting my prep this year, so basically thye same thing will happen in terms of change, growth plus definition, only difference, the before and after pic was a 2 month transformation, this time its 16. Im up to 193 today, and much leaner than last week. I wont be surprised if i come in completely dry at 189, maybe after draining my water out 187 at most, i dont usually carry much water weight anyway.

Just saw this - Ange and I (and kids) have been on vacation for 2 weeks in Ottawa visiting old friends, and family...Needless to say the diet was off and training suffered! Got in for a quick workout at my old gym, but basically it was a break for me. I won't be doing nationals this year as it was my intention to only diet/compete once in 2012. We may be heading down to Vancouver for the figure nationals - just trying to get finances in order. Halifax - Vancouver is a LONG (and expensive flight). If not, I think next up will be NS provincials again for me next year (still looking for an overall under my belt!) and world qualifier for Ange....Perhaps a new thread `My wife and I, pro card + provincial men`s overall edition` haha...

BUT... I think once I hit the top end of middle, I will do Nationals. Then it will be years before I would be able to bring a light heavy package to the national stage. I am getting close - so I would expect 2013, or 2014 to be the year I finally do nationals. I`ve always wanted to do them!

Durrah, I still think middle is the way to go! you still got 5 pounds to lose, and then 5 more pounds of water weight, and a couple more to get extra dehydrated, and middle is where you`ll be! Don`t make the mistake of `looking at the mirror` and weighing in 1 pound over... sometimes the 1 pound of inconvenience (ie delayed carb up) is well worth it. Besides, one can easily carb up in 24 hours...Will be following along!! best of luck in the contest prep

Hey brethren!

I'm stuck at 186 it's been a week now, had a mcdonalds small wrap today to shock my metabolism, suddenly im fuller and more veiny. Shit works sometimes. At this point i'm not worried about weight class, I have a good feeling about this year, of course, i'd love nothing more than to compete in the overall's, but a top 3 as a light heavy isn't so bad either! But if it comes down to 4 pounds or so, i'll dehydrate, i wouldn't want to be in the lower end of the light heavy, even though i know i'd probably be one of the biggest on there. I took a few of pics of what i currently look, 10 weeks out. Weighing 186 in the morning. Feel free to critique :) I'm still 10 weeks out, and usually, my contest prep is 8 to 9 weeks out, being at this point this early is very comforting, i've been slacking past 6 weeks, but now it's officially game time, and from these pics, a lot, a lot of change will happen, God willing of course.
