yep, all year round.... I find it keeps the mind muscle connection much sharper, even in my off season. Being able to contract every muscle in your body in any state is true muscular endurance. Same reason why i still do cardio in the off season. Never get out of shape

yea it doesn't take long to practice here and there. i find it really helps you see what you have improved on, and what could be better. it also sucks when you see guys on stage with great physiques but can't pose for sh*t and don't look prepared.

This should be manditory advice. Especially for those at the OPAs in mississauga the other day.

I think there are two important reasons to practice posing. The first as you mentioned can give help achieve that more shapely, deeply etched muscle seperation... However I think this reason is only of minor importance. Honestly, - aside from learning the proper way to pose - I don't really think posing after sets for example does much more then give a nice ego boost in the gym. Although, I could be totally wrong here. Do I think it helps your overall look? Yes, anything that involves pumping your muscles full of blood should in theory help. But I would advise people to be careful here...Only do this as a supplement to your training. Some people will take this advise and cut there workouts short and go in the posing room with their shirt off and give a couple bicep poses...Whereas they should have stayed in and finished their squats, deads, or bench workout!!
Practicing posing is most important to be able to present your body in the best possible way to hide weaknesses, and showcase strengths. Each pose has its variations, and perfecting posing is probably the most underrated component to bodybuilding. So many people spend all their time in the gym getting the muscles, but forget how to show them.

You guys got good points.
I always wondered if it does indeed have an effect on the body, I mean an actual improvement, I shyly think yes. No doubt it's really important on a stage and can make a considerable difference. What I think is important is to have someone with who that can watch your poses and see you from all angles and help correcting/mastering your poses as we don't see us much from one angle, that being when we are facing the mirror. I only have 2 competitions under my belt and they were decades ago, but when I was preparing for them, I did a lot of posing in the 10-12 weeks before, also I watched many videos of the good posers from higher levels like M.O. and M.Universe for inspiration and never watched lower levels competitions, so it set me up for higher standards and helped me really stepping up as clearly most people were posing like raisin crushers.

So many people spend all their time in the gym getting the muscles, but forget how to show them.And this last bit of info is IMO the most important piece of the contest puzzle after diet. If you can't display your physique well on stage then there's a good chance that someone with a lesser physique who knows how to pose will beat you. And don't forget the routine as well, as there's nothing worse than watching one guy after another walking from one side of the stage to the other hitting most musculars and the occasional double bicep....You're there to entertain the audiance so take the time to put together a good routine like Labrada, Corney, Arnold used to do or like some of the new guys do like Wolf.....The FBBs are entertaining to watch so take a page from their book and put some effort into your routine.
