View Full Version : Allergy to whey?
I have a friend that claims to be allergic to whey protein powders, of all sorts. She drinks shakes and soon after has a sore throat and relatively minor symptoms that would indicate an allergy or irritation of some kind.
Other than garbage soy, what is a cost effective protein source that doesnt taste like balls (like hemp does)? Does anyone here use rice, or another form of protein shake thats not whey that they find tolerable and relatively cheap?
Input from the girls is especially appreciated.
Thanks
(side note: She can tolerate milk and all forms of cheese without irritation. I dont get it)

Has she tried a New Zealand 100% whey Isolate? This protein comes from grass fed cattle with no hormones or antibiotics...other than that rice or Vegan are probably her best options..taste has never been that great.

where does one acquire this kind of whey? what name brand(s) use it?

Most health food stores should carry it...here's one brand but I am sure you can find many.

i can no longer have any whey for the same reasons. i had testing done and am not lactose intolerant but am in fact intolerant to milk protein so even the purest isolate still gave me horrible breath and other mild symptoms.
everything else is awful... believe me ive tried it. look up my beef isolate experience i posted here. i am currently using egg protein, the nutritional profile is excellent (unlike most other alternatives) but it is expensive as hell and doesnt taste very good (it is salty) but does taste better than any other alternatives i have tried. for me it is totally palatable but my gf tried it and thought it was yukky pants
This chick is super picky and will most likely not drink anything that doesnt taste really good. Looks like shes pretty effed if new zealand whey doesnt work

whats wrong with chicken, steak, eggs, greek yogourt, turkey, salmon....etc. solid food works too lol
she eats like a bird. shes 5'4 and under 100 lbs. still really hot, but needs to eat better to stay fit kinda deal you know? shes really into spinning and yoga and pilates and girly stuff. i just want her to have the convenience we take for granted with shakes. i think it will help her eat the right things more consistently

Kaizen and Precision claim that some of their whey products are sourced from New Zealand. Just check their labels. Any supplement store should carry at least one of those.
