I read up on this briefly before purchasing a few bottles. One thing I read that I liked was its anti catabolic properties as well as cancer prevention and antioxidant properties....thought it would be a good addition to the myriad of supplements I take everyday anyhow as I go nuts on the antioxidants and trying to prevent inflammation, etc.

Anyways few days before starting UA, 2 pills three times per day with carb meals, I also take them along side the MD's glucose Disposal agent also from Truenutrition. So a few days in we order pizza one night for dinner, that lasted two more nights as my middle of the night snacks, the following day after the pizza I had Dim-Sum and the day after that was Valentines day and took my wife out for lunch.....so thats three significant cheat meals, three days in a row. Every day I was waking up harder and tighter. No change in diet and the UA was my only supplement addition. Actually I had stopped taking all stimulants/burners maybe a week prior. I was amazed because normally after waiting like that 3 days in a row I wouldnt feel too good and no chance Id look even better, I know my body quite well and how it responds to everything. After taking the stim for months on end I thought Id have a bit of a rebound. I actually havent felt better, energy levels are great, and I am getting tighter each week, and I have even increased my carb intake after seeing all of this and I am continuing to tighten up. Minimal cardio, if I have time after training I will do it, 20-30 min hit cardio on treadmill maybe 3 times in a 9 days span.

Over all its a worthwhile supplement and a great one for dieting and if you enjoy carbs in your diet.

Heres a study I found interesting and can refer to my results:

Abstract

The effects of ursolic acid on the polyol pathway and glucose homeostasis-related metabolism were examined in the livers of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mice fed a high-fat (37% calories from fat) diet for 4 weeks. Male mice were divided into nondiabetic, diabetic control, and diabetic-ursolic acid (0.05% wt/wt) groups. Diabetes was induced by the injection of STZ (200 mg/kg body weight, intraperitoneally). Although an ursolic acid supplement lowered the blood glucose level, it did not affect the plasma leptin and adiponectin levels. The present study shows that the blood glucose levels have a positive correlation with the hepatic sorbitol dehydrogenase activities (r = 0.39, P < .05). Ursolic acid significantly inhibited sorbitol dehydrogenase activity as well as aldose reductase activity in the liver. The supplementation of ursolic acid significantly increased glucokinase activity, while decreasing glucose-6-phosphatase activity in the livers of STZ-induced diabetic mice. Ursolic acid significantly elevated the hepatic glycogen content compared with the diabetic control group. Supplementation with ursolic acid significantly lowered the plasma total cholesterol, free fatty acid, and triglyceride concentrations compared with the diabetic control group, whereas it normalized hepatic triglyceride concentration. A negative correlation was found between the hepatic triglyceride concentration and blood glucose levels (r = -0.50, P < .01) in regard to insulin-dependent diabetic mice. The hepatic fatty acid synthase activity was significantly lower in the ursolic acid group than in the diabetic control group, whereas hepatic fatty acid beta-oxidation and carnitine palmitoyltransferase activities were significantly higher. These results indicate that ursolic acid may be beneficial in preventing diabetic complications by improving the polyol pathway as well as the lipid metabolism and that it can function as a potential modulator of hepatic glucose production, which is partly mediated by up-regulating glucose utilization and glycogen storage and down-regulating glyconeogenesis in the liver.

Good supplement review but I'm a bigger fan of ur diet...what would you call that one and does it matter how much Dim-Sum one has when on it...lol

Yes it does matter how much, as much as possible, but more importantly is the order in which it is eaten.

Ah nice! Thanks for the review!

From what I've read about UA, 300mg to 1500mg seems to be the daily dosage! Now you are just at 300mg!

The study I've read said UA turn on some signals and turn off some other. Among the turned on, is one that encodes IGF-1 in muscle.

Please keep up posted, I want to try this eventually!

Good read , shame for all those that peeled their apples growing up ! :) Would be good to know any further notes on this one Jonny.O progess , further lean gains etc are you still taking this ?

I'm getting freebies from TN so I'm gonna get some Ursolic acid!

I was curious and searched out how much UA is in one apple and found this :

The amount of ursolic acid varies among different types of apple. A medium Fuji apple, for example, contains about 50 mg of ursolic acid. Granny Smith and Gala varieties have a bit less – about 35 mg.

Still using it and have added a few other goodies, but yes I keep it as part of my daily supplementation along with the glucose disp agent.
