Junior will defend his HW title against Overeem in May.Although Junior has faced tougher foes,he gives up about 20-25 lbs against the challenger.

That was also Overeem's first fight in the cage. Hardly anyone does well their first time. I think it'll be a great fight...and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm actually picking Overeem.
Who has Jr. fought that's better?

He's fought several UFC fighters....just not IN the UFC ;)
And, Jr hasn't really fought a lot of TOP guys. Cain, sure...but other than that, what top guy has he fought? Carwin doesn't count haha

I doubt Overeem will have trouble with Junior...I like Junior but I think Overeem is just better overall and the size is a definite factor.

Records are great for hyping up a fight...they are used to make the fighters both seem very close so it drives sales...you have to look a bit deeper than that.

Even looking at the records, Overeem has still faced the tougher guys.
Overeem has lost a few.Something to be considered is that Overeem understands that dope tests are for real in the UFC.Expect to see a softer version.

Junior's frame is much more natural, he is a faster striker and he will have a lot more endurance than Overeem carrying 20 extra pounds of muscle

Yes, he has lost a few. What top fighter hasn't? He's also had 3 times the number of fights Jr has...
I do see what you're saying about the dope tests....but, he tested clean last time! ;)

Who do you feel that he has faced that could be top dog in the UFC?

Fabricio Werdum and Mark Hunt would be two.
Http:www.sherdog.com/fighter/Fabricio-Werdum-8390
Lost in 1.21 to Junior, decision loss to Overeem.
Mark Hunt looked good against Kongo, quite a few submission losses, including one to Fedor.

Im with P on this one...besides ya gotta go with the guy with bigger muscles.
Overeem is my favorite guy, has been for a long time, Im glad hes in the UFC and I hope he does very well. They need a top Heavyweight guy that will strike fear into their opponents, he's that man.
Overeem is subject to additional surprise tests since he forgot about that first one and skipped back to Holland. Then handed over an unverified sample to his personal physician.Life is going to be tough on 175 mg a week.

Junior is naturally the bigger man.
A look at the state of drug testing in a link in this article.

Correct....however, there was 3 years in between those fights. I'm thinking Fab had improved quite a bit in those 3 years. Keep in mind, Fabricio had JUST beat Fedor before fighting Overeem...the first guy to do so (in a legit way, at least! haha)
Mark Hunt looked good against Kongo, quite a few submission losses, including one to Fedor.
Also correct...but what's the relevance? It's not like Jr. is a submission guy.
Junior is naturally the bigger man.
What makes you say that? Overeem is taller and heavier. Or, are you making reference to the juice again? I don't think Overeem is going to lose 15lbs of muscle THAT quickly.
Overeem was fighting at 205 a number of years back,IIRC.Testing was not serious at these other orgs,if at all.Living ON has it's advantages. Now it's over.
mouth

You're right...he did fight at 205....and testing wasn't as serious in the other organizations (at least it wasn't in Pride...I'm not sure about K-1 to be honest). I'm making an assumption here...but, I think it's reasonable to assume that he wasn't on gear constantly. If that's true, I don't see how he'd lose 15lbs of muscle before the Jr. fight.
Now, I could be wrong with my assumptions. I'll admit that....but, when we saw each of them last, Overeem was the bigger guy. He's also taller, isnt' he?
An inch. And I would concede knees to Overeem.

That actually seems like a high dose for HRT....everyone is different though.

Yeah I'm taking his size and workout regimen into account, and likely a liberal doc.
JDS will take this one. Overeem starts off too slow.
Didn't take very long to flush him out.Overeem flunked his test March 27.Looks like the fight is off.

Overeem's test to epitestosterone ratio exceeded 10:1.

Damnit!
Latest.Nevada State Athletic Commission sats his T/E was 14:1.WADA allows 4:1 max.
Anybody have a guess what this 14:1 ratio translates to in terms of dosage?Apparently Sonnen tested 16:1.

I think Sonnen is going to be humiliated in Brazil.

Wonder how much tren overeem runs lol. Dude is extremely lean for mma fighter at impressive weight.
Doubtful on the Tren as it hinders cardio.
This fight might not be dead.Overeem will appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission later this month to apply for a medical exemption for TRT.I say they will grant this in the interests of Nevada and the UFC and this fight is on.
There was no questionnaire regarding TRT on the March 27 test,so he didn't lie.He has 20 days before the fight to apply for a medical exemption for TRT.

UFC is still working with the state athletic commission to allow Overeem to fight...it still may happen.

"I spoke with Glenn Robinson, manager of Overeem and he says he is very respectful and is hopeful that he will be granted his license and the entire team is very confident that he will be facing Junior dos Santos come May 26th" said [Kenny] Rice. "Now Robinson wanted to make it very clear that despite other reports, Overeem did not test high for testosterone, but rather his testosterone to epitestosterone was off and he has a reasonable explanation to why that is, which he will present to the commission next Tuesday."
P
This sounds novel Prae. What else can send your ratio off?

They will claim he is on TRT and that through off the ratio.
P
Yeah he has to apply for the exemption.I think the NSAC will grant this and High T/E ratios will become the norm.Fighters can always find a doc that will help for a fee.

Yeah, but it's not really what you think. In it, he claims that he was involved in top secret "experiments" by several governments that made him, basically, genetically better. I've read some sections of it...I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

http://sibatmedia.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/ufc-star-alistair-overeem-responds-to-doping-charges/
ps...a lot of people DO think this is a joke. Maybe it is...all I know is that a LOT of people have come up with excuses as to why their test levels are a bit off. haha I think this is the best one yet!
Almost an April Fools joke. This guy has spent too much time in Dutch cafes. And no wonder Fedor did not want to fight him.
Nothing about this on MMA Nation.Has to be pure bs.

People are saying Mir won't make it out of the first round.Mir has to get this to the ground.I give him a chance there simply because of his power.
