I went down to Minneapolis for a hockey game (Winnipeg Jets vs Minnesota Wild) February 16-19. On Saturday the 18th, I cabbed down to Gold's Gym for a drop in workout. Now my hotel the Marriott had a gym, but I wasn't going to pass up this opportunity to work out at a GOLD'S GYM!

I walked in talked to the manager, who was friendly and very accommodating. I didn't have a lock for the lockers, he offered to stash my gym bag behind his desk. Allowed me to snap pictures and videos of the gym. Gave me access to the Hydro Massage, and in the end didn't even charge me the $16!

I plan to travel to Minnesota again, and will definitely make working out here apart of my itinerary.

I didn't know they had a Classic Gold's.Kinda cool to have large photos of the oldtimers.Last I read about Bill Pearl was that he worked out for two hours every morning in his home gym,but he's 82 now.

To sidetrack this thread, Golds Gym, Venice Beach is closing. Building is right near the beach front and the land worth a fortune so purchased by Yahoo (I think thats the one that bought it) prob for millions and Golds has 18 months left on a lease and then they are gonso...unknown if they will just reloacte but I'm sure with that kind on capital they can find a close by alternate site and set it up quite nicely...death of a museum!!! They could sell off the mats and equipment for millions to collectors I'm sure.

This must be the newer Gold's.I thought the original building in Venice was closed down 10 years ago or something. Not a very large building.

I guess Gold's vacated the original near shack of about maybe 1500 feet about 1976.It was just up from the beach near that amusement pier that burned down a couple of years ago.I'm pretty sure more houses have been built along the beach since then.
