Hi all,
Do any of you use both casein and whey protein? Whey for quick absorption and a casein in the evening for a longer lasting absorption rate.

I am using whey during the day and casein befor bed! Love both of them

i use both, depending on what i have as well. if you're really stuck and need your shake to digest a little slower at night you could always add milk or blend it with some other type of dairy (cottage cheese - although i dont know how that tastes mixed with a shake haha)

Whey. I had experimented a bit with Casein and Whey, but I didn't see that much of a benefit. So I'm sticking with Whey for simplicity. I did hear using fats will slow down absorption though. So I'm using almond butter at night.

I use both, whey throughout the day and the casein just before bed. Sometimes I will just make a shake with the whey protein and milk so the protein is slowly absorbed. I like the consistency of the casein, more creamy.

As Kmax says just add fats to whey isolate and you have a timed release protein.

Casein at night is all marketing hype BS. Take a small amount of almond butter, coconut or mct oil, or even omega 3's with your whey if you want it to digest slower. Kmax is bang on here. I have been doing this for years

You betcha.....I use concentrates, isolates, and cassein mixture....Works well...I find straight isolate will bring me into a hypoglycemic state when calories are restricted, nauseous feeling big time..The shakes etc...weird i know, but when mixed, i don't get that feeling at all...

I just mix my whey with either PB or flax to slow the digestion before bed, and when dieting for a show and I'm using isolate I add flax to most shakes and then I don't crash.

Whey is like just plain protein powder, absorption speed is moderate
While casein is like provides slow acting proteins, perfect during sleeping.
But whey is preferably the best among different types of protein powders.

i add fiber to my whey at night soemtimes to have that slower release... i just throw a couple scoops of metamucil in it and it seems to work for me, plus you get your fiber in as well....

Whey and casein for me Half a scoop of each in the morning and night.
