Hey Guys,
I started Dr. prescribed HRT about 4 weeks ago, he has me on 200mg of Test. Cyp ever other week. I am trying to get him to change that to 100mg every week instead. The first week after the shot is great but the second week I start dragging ass again.
I am in the Province of Quebec and the CLSC who do the injections say they won't train patients to do intramuscular injections so I can't do them at home.
Do you guys do them at home or Doc's office? Please provide any info you can around this subject, I am looking to do them at home.
Thanks,
Andre
My endo just asked me if I was comfortable doing them myself and I said yes. Ive never had to make an appt for an injection ever.

I do them myself all the time. Much more convenient to me and not hard to do at all. I actually feel better better when I do the shots myself as I have better control. I feel that 200 mgs every 2 weeks does not work that great for HRT. After 7 days, you start crashing and the second week, well you are back to where you started again with the same symptoms of low testosterone. 100 mgs every week will keep you much more stable and some docs even believe that twice a week at split dosage will work even better.
After years on HRT, I have found that once every 7 days works for me, but after the 5th day, I feel my test drop again. So on the 5th and 6th day, I take 100 iu's of hcg and on the 7th day back to test. People generally feel better when HCG is included in their HRT protocol and keep total and free test levels higher than taking test alone. For hard training athletes who are under more stress, I feel that 200 mgs is a great number for HRT. 100 mgs is just for the average inactive person.
I have been on 100 mgs once a week for years, but just a couple of years ago, I upped my dosage to 150 to 200 mgs per week and the results are so much better and generally have a much better feeling of well being and confidence.
Yeah,100 mg a week is pretty blah.
I do only once every 3 week injections and I cant feel the difference really. I feel fine all the way through.

I tried 200mg of cyp/week and my testosterone level was way over the upper limit. Also RBC count was elevated. 150mg put me in the higher limit and I don't see to lose any strength or size when I come off.

You know what I found very interesting when it comes to testosterone after having my blood work drawn. When I was dieting and did lots of cardio like 5 days a week for a full hour and sweat my ass off, my test levels were drastically lower. I had my blood work drawn after my transformation and at 300 mgs a week it read 920 ng. It's still high, but should be higher for 300 mgs of HG quality test. The last time, I had my blood work drawn while doing very limited cardio and higher calorie output, my test levels were slightly above 1000 ng. Same brand test. So, I feel the harder you train in the gym and the bigger the calorie deficit, the more testosterone you lose. This may sound strange, but I also feel that if I do crazy amounts of cardio, I lose some testosterone through my sweat. You can actually smell the testosterone in your sweat with a deep chemical odor and triggers the pheromone androstenone which is responsible for sexual attraction. That is why most people feel that women are more attracted to them while them being on testosterone. Pheromones are in fact real. There have been real documented studies done on how women can sense an alpha male because they have higher levels of the pheromone androstenone which is what this pheromone is supposed to do. Injectable Testosterone makes your levels of adrostenone skyrocket

I have cycled gear in the past then stopped for over 7 years before starting HRT. I would love to do the injections at home on a weekly basis, I need to figure out a way for them to let me do it.
I agree that injecting twice per week might be optimal, that's what I did back in the day with enanthate, but I think once per week would be sufficient. I feel really good the first 2-3 days after a shot, then I feel good for a week after that and the last 3-4 days I crash it seems so it's good for about 10 days and doing it every 7 days would work well I think.
I have read studies on various dosages for HRT and that most effective dose seems to 125-150mg per week, it got people in the mid-high normal range with very little impact on any of the other health indicators. That's the dose I would like since I will have to do this the rest of my life I want to use the least effective dose to minimize long term problems.
What concerns me is I am getting this prescribed by a urologist not an endo and he doesn't seem very knowledgeable. He didn't do a full blood panel before I started, he didn't make me take my testosterone blood test first thing in the morning, he is only checking test and free test on my next blood test. He saw no need to test estrogen or any other hormone even though I suggested it. He also isn't measuring my RBC and Hematocrit at least not on my next test and I think he should....
I will have to go with the test dose he wants to stick with, I won't do anything illegal for work reasons.
test for life, that's really interesting about "using" the testosterone up faster when in a more catabolic state, I had a hunch about that and will keep it in mind.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Any one start by getting injections from a nurse and then progress to doing them at home?
I guess I could lie to the nurses and say I am going off HRT and stop the appointments, they are in Quebec and my doc is in Ontario. I can get pins online and do my shots at home but I would prefer to keep things on the up and up.

To feel the best you need 3 things:
-frequent injections at least twice per week. (I recomend ditching the cyp and using test prop eod in very small doses)
-regular hcg 250 iu eod is a dose that has been spoken highly of.
-regular AI, arimidex .5 mg. ed I prefer aromasin myself instead.
(If you are still trying to remain fertile, then a little fsh stimulation is needed as well, so either hmg if you can get your hands on it, or small dose of nolva or clomid like say a quarter tablet a day).
You can do your research and that is the best recomendations you will come up with>>> one doc Swale recomends the test injection early in the week and the hcg later so that the hcg bridges during the trough of the test injection... im more a proponent of keeping things regular and that means steady blood levels throughout the week
weekly or bi monthly injections are basically a big waste of your time. Plenty of side effects and no relief.

Thanks for the feedback. I am in a situation where I can't and won't do anything illegal because of the line of work I am in. Having a criminal record or losing my security clearance would end my career so I won't be experimenting with anything on my own and I don't think most doc's in Canada would approve of that protocol ;)
Since I will have to do this for the rest of my life I don't want to inject eod or even twice a week, I think every week would be fine for my purposes. Like I said I felt fine for about 10 days using the 200mg / 2 weeks but then I crashed hard. Frequent injections mean more scar tissue and if you are doing this for 30+ years it adds up plus more chance of infections, more burden, etc...
For the HCG I think low dose hcg weekly would be a good idea around the end of the week like you said, I will have to convince my doc. I would like to stay fertile and maintain some nut sack size also if at all possible. I have a child but I would ideally like another one.
From what I have read and heard 0.5mg of arimidex is overkill especially with the equivalent of 100mg/wk. Also, I don't want to add in too many ancillaries because it complicates the equation and some of those (Nolva) have been linked to increased risk of heart disease for example. I just want to live a long healthy life but also maintain a quality of life by having med range test levels.
Before HRT I had the free test level of an 85yr old man but was still able to Squat and Deadlift over 350lbs routinely and get it up 2-3 per night without too much trouble, figure that out...
The low test levels caused me to have trouble concentrating, be moody, get upset easily, be mildly depressed, it's really the mood more than anything else.

100 mg per week puts me dead in the middle - not high, not low but right in the middle. Your doc should be monitoring you. No side effects for me.

Wow. Great post. Can't agreed more!
That would explain lots of things :)

And you can keep your size with that?

My doctor wanted me to come in every time , the first time i went I asked if I could do it my self and they watch, I now do it myself so I changed my dose to 100ew from 200eow;;Also doc was just doing blood work for test levels , so I talked to a hrt clinic (in Alberta ) and they sent me there blood test sheet showing what they test for ,I brought it in for the doc to see and we are now going to use the hrt clinic test sheet, so give that a try;; Also I asked what he thought of hcg ,and he wanted nothing to do with it , so I do it on my own 250 iu 2times a week so my natural test spikes when the cypt is the lowest ;; good luck

With a good diet and that Rx I was able to maintain most of it. I hit my best squat on that Rx.

Thanks for the advice jzutz with regards to talking to an HRT clinic and then showing those tests to my doc, that seems like a good approach.
