I say Alistair will demolish Brock.

I sure hope he wins too.
Brock had better pray he can take Overeem down real quick.Otherwise this could be the beatin' to end his career.

^^^ my thoughts exactly. BUT....if brock does get him down, it'll be an "interesting" fight.
I hope they stand up and fight. I am so sick of watching takedowns followed by boring ass wrestling. Not much beats a solid stand up fight where one guy just goes down hard from a brutal kick or punch. Call me old fashioned, but I dont really care for watching two guys roll around trying to submit the other. GSP fights are dreadfully dull for this reason most of the time.

So, you prefer kickboxing over mma. Nothing wrong with that....just don't get upset when an mma fight doesn't become a kickboxing match ;)
There are a ton of dudes who are heavily trained in Muay Thai. MMA should be called wrestling most of the time.
There is a former world champion MT guy here that has a bunch of schools, won't mention his name.Had his attitude adjusted by a wrestler couple of years back.Actually sued the guy and had a publication ban put in place at the trial.Even had my kid thrown out of a tournament for striking too hard the prick. That's my rant on MT.

I think Overeem is going to have his way with Lesnar. In fact i would almost be willing to bet Lesnar retires after the beating Overeem is going to lay down on him.

Control of where the fight goes is a very important tool in the mma world. If ya don't like it...watch K-1. There are some GREAT kickboxing fights there!

I have a lot of respect for Brock- His mentality, strength and his training. Will he win? We will see. But, I hope he does because there is a lot of pressure on both sides. I do think you guys are cutting him short. Brock is a very powerful man and he can throw punches too. Brock has been off for some time recuperating from x health issue. I do think he will be more cautious and I do think he will capitalize with his striking and make each punch count. If Brock gets ontop of AAlistair I wish him best of luck crawling out from Brock's massive body. I still say Brock for the win. If I am wrong, that is ok. If you havnt seen Brock's biography on youtube I highly recommend it.

Brock has to take him down quick. Overeem is taller than him and a better striker. Very dangerous with his knees as well as his hands. Brock has a much better chance on the ground but it still won't be easy. These guys are about the same size and they are both strong to boot.
Brock seems to improve with time. He might have a chance, but it's unlikely.

I agree with you...in part. If Brock gets him down, it'll be hard for Overeem to get up. That's Brock's only real chance though. If it stays standing - even though Brock has shown a lot of improvement in his striking - Overeem is WAY too experienced for him. Yeah, Brock can throw punches but, he can't really take getting hit. As soon as someone gives him a good pop, he turns his face away from them.
I'm looking forward to the fight though - it should be interesting to see how they both stack up.

I am rooting for Brock. So many Brock haters because he moved to the top so quickly. Plus he had the WWE attitude but has changed a lot. At least he doesn't fake his injuries plus he's a beast while he trains. He just hates getting punched and his coaches need to make him get used to get punched.

Brock will win he needs a big impressive win before he starts to fade from people's minds and he knows it. He wont allow himself to lose, no stand up just take down and pound like old school brock

Brock has a very good chance of winning if he takes it to the ground...but he will have take Overeem down very quickly cause all Overeem needs is a split second to rock Brock and take the fight... Keep in mind that Overeem is the 2010 K-1 Champ. Meaning he is the best of the best when it comes to kickboxing. Again though, Brock needs to make this a ground game quick or his nite will be over in a split second.
As of right now the Nevada Athletic Commision is debating granting a license to Overeem.A drug test was requested Nov 17 and still has not been submitted, usually they are received within 48 hours.Who woulda thunk?Where has that Rob dude been lately?

they've already granted him a conditional license.
Conditional on what terms? That he submit a sample shortly? And why are they being so flexible in this case?
Overeem submitted to a urine test at his personal doctor's office. He must report to an independent testing within 72 hours and is now subject to further random tests. The NAC is suspicious that he delayed for time here and they are likely correct.
Overeem will be subject to two random tests in the six months following the fight, expect to see a smaller version now that he is in the UFC.
Overeem passed the test and the Dec 30 fight with Brock is on

Was hesitant to read the post. I really wanted to see this fight happen. Now to plan New Year's Eve to include time to see the fight :friday
Thanks for the updates cog.
Overeem looks huge and muscular at 263.

I cant see this fight lasting very long...the last time Brock met a decent striker (Caine) he got levelled...same thing will most likely happen with Overeem.

Lesnar didn't want to fight anymore..he took some knees and kicks and just quit. He wasn't hurt physically...his feelings were hurt. He's a jackass and got beat like one...falling down and just covering up...then he stands up and tells his corner hes fine. He was no match for his opponent and glad hes quitting.
It appears the knees of Overeem are going to be a factor in the UFC heavyweight division.Brock took some hard ones.

Brock is such a pussy its not even funny. Real bad man he is rofl
Tough talk from from you guys. They were powerful blows from a big man that knows how to use his knees.
^^ I agree...i boxed amature for a bit in heavyweight class (200+)......a good connecting shot from a 250+, trained striker will hurt you.....

Watch the replay and Lesnars ace and eyes even in the pre fight show on sportsnet..he didn't want to fight that guy and had his mind made up about retirement and he took a few shots and said "**** this" and fell down and covered to wait for fight to be stopped..no effort to get up or defend..then just gets up without issues after stopped and tells corner hes fine..mentally he was never in it nor did he want to be in it. Took the fight for the cheque and bailed right away....never once do I doubt that knees and kicks hurt but watch it again closely from the walk out to the end...no game period
He was likely scared....in any event powerful shots to the solar plexus can stop anybody....Overeem showed his striking abilities very well and he was just getting warmed up.I think Dos Santos must be concerned.

He really wasn't much of anything really. He was a good collegiate wrestler but that was it.
Failed at football
Failed at mma - anyone who says he actually succeed is a moron
He'll go back to WWE most likely just in time for wrestlemania... At least he won't have to worry about being punched lol
The *only* reason he got a shot in football or mma is A) his entertainment factor; and B) his size. Sadly both didnt matter one bit when it comes to sports requiring real athletic ability.
He was champion for awhile. Not a failure.

true true, hes just a big loud mouth imo
Overeem feels that Brock accomplished a lot in a short span of time.He made some good bucks and a lot of fighters are making much better money now.I would bet a lot of other fighters besides Overeem don't want to see him go.Given his relative lack of experience he did quite well.

Pretty disappointed in how the fight went down. Whether his heart and mind was in it, he did take some heavy knee blows to his surgical area. Perhaps it was too soon for him to fight? I do think if anything was involved, it would be his wallet and an already premeditated decision that he was going to lose and announce retirement. I agree that Brock will return to the WWE. Maybe even try to addition for a movie roll. But for now, I think he will lay low for awhile as his ego is probably bruised.

I also was disapointed in how the fight went down. Alistair is my guy and i'm glad he won by striking, but i felt they both held back, maybe out of fear of each other? All i know is Overeem wasn't in k-1 champ mode, he could have pulled the trigger and put a real beating on him, and the same goes for Lesnar, he should have had a real game plan. I really won't miss him though, if not for his size he would not be there in the first place. Hopefully Alistairs next fight will be more explosive.

I think he wasn't in K-1 mode because of Brock's wrestling. It's hard to really load up for a kick or a right hand when you're concerned about a guy's double leg. That's why Overeem came out with such a long fighting stance.
I do agree that Lesner's game plan was a bit "weak." I think that was one of the worst leg kicks I've ever seen!
