A bit disturbing:

"Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima recently shared the details of her grueling pre-show routine. Her fitness makes sense–intense cardio like jumping rope and boxing, with some weight lifting–but it’s her diet that gets a bit jaw-dropping…

She sees a nutritionist, who has measured her body’s muscle mass, fat ratio and levels of water retention. He prescribes protein shakes, vitamins and supplements to keep Lima’s energy levels up during this training period. Lima drinks a gallon of water a day. For nine days before the show, she will drink only protein shakes – “no solids”. The concoctions include powdered egg. Two days before the show, she will abstain from the daily gallon of water, and “just drink normally”.

Wait, though! Unfathomably, it gets worse:

Then, 12 hours before the show, she will stop drinking entirely. ”No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that,” she says."

how is this disturbing. It sounds familiar to many of us on here. In fact, I would bet there is even more to it then that. Diuretics, etc...how is what she does any different than what we do!! Sure, we try to show muscles and striations, but they try to show bones and boobs...I think it would be hypocritical to think negatively of what they do to get ready for their shows.

Your absolutely Right Steve..not much different then what I do a week out. No secret. She of course didnt trust to tell all her secrets. There's more to it then what she says.

And NO I do not judge her. It's her job and business to look like she does for a few photo shoots a year. We are no different.

Back when I was 160 lbs I loved getting their catalogs..it was my motivation to be as lean as they were at first then the muscle fetish set in.

Agreed. It just kinda sounds like she's cutting weight.

1. measuring body fat ratio, lean mass, and water retention is inaccurate and useless...its just for maketing purposes...people tend to fall for that crap
2. she would do much better to keep the gallon of water in until Friday 18 hours before then stop abruptly...slowing down just caused an increase in aldosterone
3. I dont know of a single BB that has nothing but protein shakes 9 days out from a show...no solids is just not sound nutrition...
4. She has very little muscle mass at all...its just depleting the body to look skinnier...big difference in looking full, ripped, and vascular

I think all women should follow this protocol. It should become Canadian law and women must follow it as to create a society of super skinny runway models.

Solid idea I think!

By saying this is no different than what we do, I didn't imply she followed a contest prep for a national level bodybuilder, or a local bikini competitor for that matter! The point is, she did / does what she does to get in the shape that is 'appealing' for what they do. Again, there may have been a 'better' way, or an eaasier way, or whatever, but for the average person, or for someone in their industry, doing whatever method they do is essentially the same as any other method.

The point is for most of these people including bodybuilders is to lose water. Her method will accomplish that no doubt. Therefore there is nothing "wrong" with it. Just the same as 1 guy junk loads, and another guy doesn't. Whatever method she used was, I am sure, effective. If it wasn't they would do something else. Healthy? Of course not! But neither is the things we do to look ripped, dry and vascular. Our sport is not healthy, and neither is her career.

PS: if her aldosterone levels go up, and isn't drinking any water, then no big difference - she isn't trying to show vascularity - just thiness. If a little water goes to her skin from her muscle, it's probably a good thing ! lol.

Steve my response was in relation to saying that what she is doing is very similar to what we do to prepare for a show as a BB...and it is not.
