So I've been at planet workout for four months. It's a simple gym, got all I need.
I've worked out in the past at my college gyms, sheridan and humber. All of which are even more basic and smaller... no one ever complained of deadlifting... grunting or any othe rsuch bs. I'm a nice guy. I give newbies pointers, i'm helpful. People get encouraged when they see me lifting full effort. Etc...BUT I am hearing and seeing this new pansy phenomena. Don't make noise, don't grunt, don't make noise with weights... wtf? Reminds me of the planet fitness bs on youtube. The guy who got kicked out for grunting.
Friend of mine left planet workout for the same reason. He deadlifts 600lbs... how the f* are you not going to make noise?
I need a 24 hour gym that allows deadlifting and 'grunting'... seriously... I live in oakville and planet fitness is pretty close, that friend of mine left and moved to premier fitness 24/7 at erin mills and millcreek but that's a half hour drive for me...
I have a really really REALLY tight schedule, shift work and I am very dedicated to lifting... so help me find a gym that is 'grunt' friendly, close and 24/7 lol...

Bust out the yellow pages and make a few calls, takes 15 min tops. Just dont jerk it tonight and there you have a extra 15min free time
there is a MUCH closer to gym to you at 9th line and burhamthorpe area. Fitness Finatix is open 24 hours and costs about 1 dollar a day to train there. Good gym that allows noise I believe.

Dude.. you're in Jokeville, what do you expect? lol.... Yuppie capital.
Fitness 365 in Etob is out of your way unless you work in the West end.. but the atmosphere there isn't uptight.

I considered LA FITNESS but i need 247 :( It's very close to where i live but I workout sometimes 11pm-2am range.... (srs) it's all about formulating schedule between family/work/gym.
The closet to me is a premier 247 on trafalgar... i contacted them and waiting for a response for them to call me back/mail me back if they tolerate deadlifting and grunting lol. I had no time to actually drive there even though it's so close. Maybe I'll pass by tomorrow.
Fitness Finatix? That sounds interesting I'm gonna check into it. Thanks.
Etobicoke is way out there... I am sick of driving as it is...
Edit: I think I know Fitness Finatix, I stopped by once... and the guy told me no loud deadlifting.. was some medium big white guy. My friend and I walked right away lol :( It was in the last 4 months or so that I passed by there at night. I don't want to be harassed about how I work out or have to keep in back of my mind to hold myself back hell no :-/ Unless that was only that dude.
i know the owner of that place, and it used to be a fairly hardcore gym. as far as i know you are allowed to make noise and deadlift with calk etc.

Well tonight I checked out the 247 premier at trafalgar.. gym is a claustrophobic nightmare, the dumbells are akward, lots of totally useless gimmicky machines... three hammer strength machines which is nice, other than that too many treadmills... and all crammed into one tiny place.. The barbells they have are super nice, but the plates are garbage... Saw an old buddy of mine i havent seen in months training there... I know he deadlifts and squats hardcore and he told me they have no problems with that but place sucks :-/
I went LA fitness, awesome place, really love it, lots of great equipment and lots of space, lots of people who seemed serious about training even a few girls that looked like figure competitors lol. But the schedule sucks... they used to be 247 but now its mon-fri till 12pm, thurd 11pm fri 10pm weekends i think it was 9pm or 8pm or something. The guy said no problem chalk or deadlifting just as pratorian said.. which is great...I know I'll regret it if i go as i hate training mornings.
I will go for a second visit to Fitness Fanatix maybe tomorrow and have a talk. What should I say to the guy what's your name (if you don't mind). I am a bit concerned, aside from the visit I made that one night, when I googled reviews of that gym there was a few guys complaining of the same issue. A guy dropped a 150lbs dumbell and the staff on duty made a scene with him for making noise. wtf?
Im not gonna drop my name on the board and I havnt even talked to the guy in years so it probably wouldnt do you much good anyway. Sounds like things have changed there from what youre saying, but how much noise / dropping do you plan on doing? I can dead / squat over 400 and I dont need to scream or throw shit around to do it. Making some noise is sometimes necessary but making noise for the sake of people looking just makes you another one of those dudes in the gym that people want to watch get crippled. Make noise if you need to but dont overdo it dude.

I don't think it's 24 hours I was there on a Saturday if I recall they closed at 6 or something it is a good gym same owners of Vision on the Queensway it's sort of 24 hours Monday 5 a.m. to Saturday 8 p.m. Sunday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Vision chalk is aloud and never heard them say anything about people grunting.
There is anytime fitness 511 Maple Grove Drive Oakville I have never been there but a co-worker goes there not sure how they are about deadlifting.
