Howdy folks,
I posted a while ago, about my desire to finally get in shape. Guess what? I ended up working 3 jobs and getting steadily out of shape. Wings and Nacho's began to replace meals and I lost my drive to improve myself. Things hit an all time low last month. I was ending each day with a couple of beers and just snacking instead of eating any real food. I have not even ran a half a mile in 5 months. Enough is enough, I had a desire to look good, feel healthy, and feel strong. I live in Vancouver B.C., and I have to ask, where do I start? I have to change my bad habits, and get rid of them, that I know. But what Gym should I join, should I follow a program? What's a good diet? There are so many questions! and I want to follow through with my promises to myself and become the shape and body I want to... without letting old friends drag me into the habit of drinking and snacking and being lazy all day. I am 5'8, and 132 pounds. Advice is welcome, and thank you for your time.
Better late then never.Drop the beers after work for starters. If you really like the taste switch to those Molson minis, just one.

Welcome to CBB Marti. Lots of info available at you finger tips on this board. Persistence, patients, and consistency is needed to get the results you're after. We all want the great results yesterday but it took you more than 2 months to get out of shape and it will take more than 2 months to get into shape. After reading everything you can get your hands on here... put together some sort of plan and then post it up and we will gladly help you iron out the details. Good luck in your fitness endeavours!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Dropping the beers was the first thing. I did a couple days ago. I went to the gym for the first time. I then went to one of those dedicated supplement stores and talked to a guy there as to what I should start with. I got a protein powder and will be heading back to the gym tomorrow. I'll say, even 2 days of not regularly drinking even a few beers and I feel way healthier.

Now to start eating correctly and ease into the weights.Click on Praetorian's forum and ask him for a starting program or diet.

Thanks for the advice again everyone. I've been working out consistently now since I came back to this site. I work out every second day of the week, Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday right now. I do stretching "Atlas pushups", wrist curls, and then work on my biceps with 20 pounds, 20 times, 3 sets. Then 3 times 25 for 10 reps etc. Feel so much healthier, have not touched a beer in over a week. Feeling great, getting stronger, can't wait tell I start taking shape and getting bigger! I guess my next question is, is there a muscle related gym in Vancouver that's cool with newbies? I think some in person advice guiding my workouts, and helping me plan would be great. I really enjoy this activity!
