So lets get some comments on this video from the Ottawa's. I think it was a hilarious routine and the crowd went crazy...the OPA however did not and lost their shit on him backstage. Rules are rules but this is the kind of shit that people remember and will fill the house the next year. No harm no foul, so what his trunks weren't a solid colour, he had on pure black for prejudging, the night show is all for the crowd. I was told they deducted him points, took away the weight class win and moved him to 2nd, then changed the best poser award to "most inspirational" so they didn't have to award him credit for it. Where do you guys stand?

**** the OPA. Thia is suppposed to be fun and enjoymemt - they worked hard enough for it.
If guys can show up oit of shape, looking like ass i say that is more detrimental to the image of the sport than some fun-filled posing routines.

I think his routine was quite entertaining. He got the crowd alive. He should not have been punished for that.

If a 70 year old did the same routine, there would not have been an issue.
I think the only thing he may have violated was the solid trunk rule. Not sure I believe he got deducted points for it. To me, they would either disqualify him or a simple slap on the wrist.

I think it was great. The night show should be purely for entertainment. All the serious judging should be done at prejudging. If guys can wear knee length color shorts in the new men's physique division then the OPA should not have a problem with multi color for the bodybuilding divisions...time for a rule change.

Or the alternative to making it a dog and poney show at night is to keep it serious and actually use the evening show to count for placings as well. Some sort of quick rejudging of the top 5.

Agree with DK!
I found the routine entertaining but I am not sure it's good for the sport. Also, his conditioning wasn't that good, that's probably why he was placed second not because of his routine. To be fair, I didn't see what the winner looked like.

feel like waiting around another few hours for the show to end? Top 5 doesn't cut it as now top 7 placings could all be changed around so will have to go through manditories again to determine A placings and B who gets to do routines then presentations. Multiple by several classes and yeah I don't think so lol

It doesn't work logistically i realize...now that figure and bikini take up more time than bodybuilding in showtime. I just remember when i first started competing we actually did mandatories at night for the audience to compare us even if it didn't count in the judging per se.

I, too, remember the good ole days where posing and not prancing was in vogue lol

Actually his conditioning was pretty good, his colour was not. I told him to use protan and they used shitty ass dream tan. His posing was really hiding his conditioning and size, way more time should have been spent on his posing and I told him so when I was giving him a quick 101 back stage, which never works because they are so decarbed and dehydrated then never remember shit when the hit the stage anyways. The winner is also a buddy of mine and he really showed up. His conditioning was very good and overall symetry and his posing was very good as well. I've been informed that although it was verbally said he was going to be deducted points, he was not and the actual class win was legitmately MA's. Regardless I'm still laughing every time I watch the video, and its not even the trunks that makes me laugh, its his silly dancing near the end that I love. 99% of routines are boring, lets be f'n serious here and I'm as guilty as the next. I have white man rythm for sure! Guys like Mark Anothony and even more so Renaldo are a joy to watch, there is also a Grand Masters competitor named Valentine who is awesome too. Even at Nationals this year there was only a few that were Ultra Smooth. We all agree the routines are for the crowd at the night show and most of us would prefer just to hit our mandatories, but without the crowds these Provincial organizations would cease to exist, so I think a few fun and silly routines are just what every show needs.
