Anyone have any info on this new (I think) company? Seen some people promoting it in facebook and a few others bashing it hard. Curious to what's going on if anyone knows. A quick glance at their site visalus.com looks like they specialize in MRP's (Meal Replacement Powder's) for weightloss. They have Hulk Hogan as a promoter. Good/bad?

I am a "hater" lol... Overpriced whey protein with a few other good buzzword supps like r-ala, omega3's and resveratrol all for the monthly cost of 250$.

Plus it's a multi-level marketing thing where they try to get you to sell it.

Probably an ok product but a bucket of whey per month would get you the same results for a fraction of the cost and you won't make all those other people rich. lol

A lot of the supplements in the health food stores and other supplement companys have to go through all the paperwork to get NPN numbers for their products through Canada's food and drug administration. This product has not been approved.

NPN numbers are not mandatory yet...regulations are on hold as of now. On another note, i've been approached several times regarding this product. Personally i will not endorse anything that claims to be the secret to fat loss.

All NHP's must have an NPN or EN to be legally sold here. Enforcement of this is lacking and usually any resources are spent on the more 'dangerous' skus.

Protein powders do not require an NPN or EN. I think BBV is soy protein (not whey) fortified with multis/minerals - ie: meal replacement. Therefore they should have a number. Now if it meets the standards of Health Canada to be an actual meal replacement then it is classified as food and doesn't require the numbers. For example Muscle MLK (Canadian Muscle Milk) is considered a meal replacement by Health Canada (not just gym rats) and it doesn't need a number.

Their shake seems like it would pass as a MRP but they have a full product line which definitely don't count as MRP and isn't carnitine banned in Canada?

It looks like it will pass as a meal replacement for a bodybuilder vs. it looks like it will pass as a meal replacement for Health Canada are 2 different things!

That confused me. So if someone packs protein in a jar then they can sell it without an NPN? I thought it had to have an NPN.
Meal replacement I had heard it didn't but must be labelled properly.

I was told protein didn't have to have one.
Meal replacement, like I said, means different things. Health Canada has criteria to meet in order to call a product a meal replacement - it must have a certain amount of carbs, certain amount of vitamins, etc. The supplement industry (and general public) classifies Lean Body as a meal replacement but HC doesn't because it doesn't meet their criteria.
