I am not a certified personal trainer, but one thing I can tell you is that the answers to all of those questions will vary so much that you would have to take them with a grain of salt.

For example, there is no real education requirments. Anyone can be a personal trainer, not necessarily a good one...But you could be a successful one, with practically no education. This relates to #2, if you are really great socially, charismatic, etc - you could draw in clients with no actual knowledge of proper training techniques. And vice versa - One could have the highest amount of education and knowledge, but with no skills outside that - be totally unsuccessful.

As for #4, related to both #1 and #2, you could be making an hourly rate of say 10$ per hour, with little hours per week - to charging 100-200$ without enough time in the day to keep all clients satisfied.

In a nutshell, depending on the goals of the project, I am not sure even if you had a few answers from this board, if you would get even a nearly complete picture of what a typical trainer makes, their education, or skills.

First of all, I'm french. So pardon my grammar.

1.) educaion required - what kind of education is required to be certified for this job ?

Most of the gyms won't ask for any certifications. But it's easy to spot someone who know what he's talking about. As for myself, I have a canfitpro certification (didn't learned anything at all). This certification won't make you a good trainer. Experience will!

My boss fired a few guys with exercise science degrees. They can be very very technical and use long words. But clients don't care. They want results (fat loss, gain muscles or just be in shape). These guys got fired because they had no clue on how to transform someone physique in a short period of time. No advance method of dieting. It happened many time in all the gym I worked.

2.) Skills needed - what skills are needed to be able to succeed in this industry, ex. social, nice, friendly ,etc.

Be and look profesionnal. You need to be social. All the clients one day or the others will talk about their personal problems. Sometime, you need to act like a psychologist and a good friend. But keep your distance... I learned the hard way. ;-)

Look fit is very important. If you're not in shape, people will have a hard time to believe in you. Even if you show some great informations and you are not fit, the client will ask himself "well why he doesn't do it if it's achievable?!"

3.) Job description - give me a quick descroption of your job, tell me what you like and dislike about it, and if it is a tough job, etc.

I do measurements, diets, training programs and every 2 weeks I make adjustments if I need to.

I really like my job. One thing I don't like is having someone who don't follow what you're showing him. I get paid no matter he fail or succeed. But it's kind of boring and pointless when they don't follow your diet. I only have this kind of client a few times a year. 90% of the rest are good.

4.) Salary range- approximently how much you make an hour or yearly income

I'm getting paid 25$ an hour. Rest goes to the gym. The gym find my clients. So I don't have to stress about this. At the moment, I have 40 active clients. I see a few 2-3times a week, year long. Rest is 2-4 sessions, every 4-6weeks. That give me 30 hours of personal training/week. I could work more, but I have to say no. I need to stay in touch with my clients, keep training/eating 6 meals a day and enjoying life.
