Also had the opportunity to try one of these,it appears less weight can be used than in a normal shrug and still feel effective.Tried a few pulling shrugs.Anybody have extensive experience with this item?

Also did a few deadlifts which are close to squat, but had no small platform for extra depth.

Have been doing trap bar squats on a six inch platform. You can really sit back doing this movement, little past parallel.Have also been doing RDL's with this,I believe this is the best bar for this.

I have one and I love it. Its great for shrugs. I have not tried doing Deadlifts with them yet. Never heard of squats performed with them sounds interesting though.

With deads and the larger loads there is something I noticed which I read about recently as well.Near lockout there is more risk of movement front to back.

These trap bar squats are good but....normally I squat with a wider stance than I use with the trap bar, which is fairly narrow. Not giving up regular squats anytime soon....
