how do some guys you see at the gym get so big. i mean biceps so damn big. not just big bicep but jsut big. i mean workout my arms and i still dont that big. i also take protein. i work out like 3xs a wk approx for 1 hr approx and i do everything . chest, bicep , shoulders.....etc

or how do you get bigger biceps and arms. i done it all from bicep curls with the dumbell to the preacher curl.....etc

Heavy weight means double body weight bench press, squats, dead lifts for reps! 4. Push beyond the pain starting line...most guys barely reach the starting line and the give up when it comes to intensity...just when the pain starts...thats the beginning...thats when you hit the red button...most guys shut it down at that point
5. When you hit the gym its all business...no chit chat bullshit with your buddies, no chatting up the ladies, no CELL phones in the gym....and if i have to even tell you that forget about ever gettin big right now!
6. Understand that getting big means sacrifice, blood, sweat, and tears....its alot of pain so dont ask for something unless you really really want it.

Two hour leg workouts and your arms and the rest of ya will grow ;) Plus eat like a pig and it's no ones business. If you're not eating 5000+ cals a day, then you just wont grow. I see guys in the gym always doing arms and forearms and not much else and never growing. I don't think I've ever done a forearm workout. Waste of time really when you could be doing a compound exercise.

I see guys in the gym always doing arms and forearms and not much else and never growing. I don't think I've ever done a forearm workout. Waste of time really when you could be doing a compound exercise.

I use weighted dips as my fore arm work out and it is spectacular! I do arms at the end of my work outs so i get a good chest/back and core work out, and i don't find a 235 lb bench, 305 lb dips, 35 hand stand push ups, weighted chin ups and what ever else i get into is an arm work out so after all that i start arms, i do core in between every major lifting workout, and a set of legs in there =D

total weight, 140 + 165, if you don't believe then thats your issue, but the 10 people that almost knocked themselves out on the olypticals watching me do it on sunday morning? Priceless, i would have photos/videos but i workout alone 98% of the time, and it hard to take a photo and do a lift...


arranges in the pattern, 5, 10, 45, 45, 45, 10, 5 with the chain strung through the middle. Havving the smaller weights on the outside helps avoid chain pinch (which HURTS LIKE HELL) and i entire the dip rack on an angle cause i have short legs and its pretty wide >_<

Most people I see don't do dips properly. They do half assed dips which does jack shit. Dips are my favorite tricep exercise. I work my way up to 135lbs + bw for 6. It also helped build my chest too.

That is correct, i was unfortunately born with severe arthritis, in both hips, knees, and ankles, and i get SEVERE pain with strenuous leg lifting, so i do what i can and i do cardio when i cannot. My upper body was not effected to the same extent so i push as hard as i can, for the record i hit those numbers every other day. You are welcome to come see =D

Agreed, i get down to a 90 degree on max weight and lower with less weight, i have seen substantial improvement in fore arm and lower peck size in the few months i have been doing it, second would be the tricep and then shoulder.

Not that i have any particular need to prove anything >_< i just got quite a chuckle. We all have "our things" and i doubt to many of you can jump on a bicycle and do a 50 km ride in under and hour to warm your legs up.... Its what i do =D

Quite intrigued by this... I have actually requested gymnast rings at my gym, i can rotate myself upside down and do hand stand push ups on the dip rack and have had a few trainers ask if i had ever done rings... no i have not. Yes i would LOVE to try them!

Nope just regular dips and bench dips. Rings would give you amazing stability and activate entire upper body I guess. My gym doesn't have rings, I would like to try it though.

I liked Praetorian's original post BUT there are big dogs and little dogs. There are also big men and little men. If you are a Kenyan distance runner you may not have the genetics to put on big muscle. If you are fine boned you probably won't be the size of Ronnie Coleman. If you aren't doing a fair amount of steroids you likely won't be bigger then an elite athlete like Bob Paris. Yes I know he's incredibly gay but still one of the best physiques in that not quite achievable 220 pounds of stage muscle on a 6' bodybuilder is pretty darn amazing imo. Most people aren't really willing to put a solid 10 years in during their peak athletic years to explore their potential. 16 weeks to bigger abs isn't going to do it.

-Get proper rest to training ratio,
-Be consistent year after year and
-The most important: genetics!

Appropriate genetic will multiply the results of all the efforts put in the other factors.

It's also becoming pretty clear that how you express your genetics is very related to the effort you put in environmentally. I think it's kind of neat that you can actually modify epigenetics via external inputs (stamp out and abolish redundancy). Still not going to make a little dog a big dog but the genetic predispositions for disease, obesity, all appear to be modifiable with appropriate diet and exercise. Not just fighting to achieve your genetic "potential" but actually fundamentally changing the activation of genes in the body. Now if they could hurry up and cure old age and cancer I would be moderately satisfied.

I remember training a guy, he was about 16y/o 130lbs and 2-3 years later he was 230lbs ish, it was amazing seeing the transformation, progress was so fast. As Prae says, you cannot see the genetic potential until you push it, but once you push it it does not take long to see which one has it, or not.

you can blame 'anything' but its been said many times, genetics is the key. If you look at some of the pro's before they started using AAS, you'll see how genetics play a major factor in their physiques.
