I went down to calgary to check the show out. It was pretty good. They had Strongman, powerlifting, weightlifting and kettlebell sport.

One thing I did not like about the venue was the seating, which kind of sucked. They had all four events down in an indoor soccer field. I thought we would be able to walk around and get close to the events but we were not allowed down to the floor of the soccer field. The railing was only see through in some areas and there were pillars in the way. It was very hard to see what was happening in all the events.

Also the announcer was incoherent most of the time, really crappy sound system.

Other then that it was pretty good. We ended up watching mostly the strong man competition, standing at the far end of the field and could also see the weightlifting pretty good. Some small dude made a provincial record in weightlifting and I think also a national record but I am not 100% certain because of the bad audio. Was still pretty bad ass though. Would liked to have a better view of the powerlifting but that's the way it goes.

Hey Thorgrim,

Thank you for the feedback. I like the idea of actually being able to come into the pit and get a closer look. The show went from an idea to actually putting it on in 7 weeks, so with the whole year to plan for the next one, we will be able to make it bigger and better. Oh, and yes, Quinton Kroschinski of Edmonton hit a new Provincial junior record of 125/152.

Here is a highlight reel for those were unable to attend:
