Liked this vid. He tells you some of the problems with today's pre-workout drinks, shows you how to make a cheap inexpensive one of your own and gives some colorful commentary at the end.

Enjoy.

Crystal Light, Beta Alinine , Tyrosine, Carnitine + Caffeine is probably going to run you more $ per month than a $30-40 Superpump or No-Explode type deal and is a headache to prep.

honestly, yes! But why theres no creatine in is preworkout shake? Is because the caffeine and creatine interaction?

Because if you are taking it (creatine mono-Creapure) with breakfast as you should then you dont need it pre-workout only post training.

Not sure what the L-tyrosine is in there. I thought that was mostly a relaxant? Ideas?

OK, so I decided to give this a try, as I had to place an order with CP, and made the drink up yesterday exactly as Will recommends in the video but without the caffeine, as it was late in the day and it interferes with my sleep. I did some research on Tyrosine (in part from Will's excellent book "Bodybuilding Revealed") and discovered that it has "mild stimulant properties and can assist with focus", which is exactly what the drink gave me. I had greater focus, a bit more drive (increased my bench by 20lbs) and had an excellent work out. For the record, I have only used one pre-workout drink in the past, No-Explode, and it gave me a bit of a boost but not enough of one to justify the cost. I haven't really calculated the cost of the Brink Drink, but the only expensive part is the Acetyl L-Carnitine, which is $10.88 per 100gms and since I use beta-alanine anyway, it's just a matter of adding a bit. I also think that these supplements have other health benefits than just encouraging your workout performance, so it is probably worth the extra cost. And it works. Nothing dramatic but the increase in focus and drive made for a better workout! Hope this helps.

not only is his home made brew likely more cost effective than most other "proprietary blends", but it is surely much, much healthier for you as well. Some of those pre workout mystery powder cocktails gave me horrible anxiety, bad acne, elevated liver values, or all 3 combined. Make your own drink. It takes 2 minutes.

I kind of sketched out the costs and I'm pretty sure it is less expensive and it is good to know what's going in. Better, you can make adjustments if you need to. I am going to cut back a bit on the l-tyrosine as it amped me up a bit more than I need. And, yeah, it is nice to know what is going in. I've looked at a few of those "Proprietary Blends" and wondered WTF! This Will Brink guys seems to be a good source of info.
