I think I've hit some sort of a plateau so I'd like to switch up my diet for 4-6 weeks to cut a few lbs and then go back to bulking. I'm looking to lose no more than 5lbs.

1 egg
30g whey
2/3 cup oats

10 almonds
+40g whey
yoghurt cup

40g chicken breast
35g carbs in rice

10 almonds
can of tuna
yoghurt cup

ground turkey
quinoa
(40g protein, 10g fat, 35g carbs)

40g whey
18 almonds

Total: 2100 cals, 50g fat, 250g protein, 170g carbs

PLUS
Workout days: 50g whey, 50g dextrose, creatine
non-w/o days (run only): whey + yoghurt cup

Thoughts?

Protein too low, fat too low, carbs way too high...increase protein to 45g per meal, fat to 15g per meal and lose the carbs completely..youll drop 5lbs easily. You should also be doing cardio every day in the morning before eating.

I don't want to do keto.

Then add a cup or two of veggies to each meal...you wont be in ketosis...and you dont need the other carbs...especially the yogurt and dextrose.

PS why not keto?

b/c then I'll have to slowly add the carbs over a period of 4-6 weeks which will extend my diet switch up by that much.

Actually it makes little difference whether you are on keto or just carb cycling...you will still take 4-6 weeks to get back processing carbs normally. On keto carb intake is 50g...carb cycling drops to 50-100g on low days..not a whole lot of difference....ive done both diets the difference is negligible....and really when it comes down to it adding carbs in slowly is much better anyways...most guys ea way too many carbs hence they gain too much fat and water too quickly.

I have many clients to go from keto to carb cycling or carb cycling to keto...it all depends on what the clients goals are and where he/she is coming from. Keto is easier to stay on and thus many start with keto to avoid the cravings and mood swings then switch to cycling after they have been dieting and are getting into the habit...and vice versa...many go from cycling and when weight loss stalls drop into ketosis...so both tools can be used effectively.

So going back to the original diet I posted, should i cut out hte dextrose from the pwo shake or keep it in? Also, running first thing (empty stomach) in the morning on the diet I proposed is good or bad?

Presuming from his previous posts ( which i didnt find until after my question to P) he indicated drop the carbs and grains completly ( i wanted to know because of Quinoa being a complex carb/grain if i should drop it as well )....
