Very hard to see the faces on the pic but I believe that is Ted in the middle, Hassan on the far right and BLP on the far left. I could be wrong. Would be nice to see BLP qualify for the nationals.

Thanks guys...sorry but i kept things hush hush this year and just wanted to sneak in and do my thing. I thought i had both classes actually...many guys including a few pros said I had it easy...but thats BB...i need to tighten things up a notch yet and come in much drier at the NA...taking a week off and then back on the plan.
What a long day...whew.

It was a great opportunity to have both the Pro and the Ontario together but it looks like all the coverage went to the Pro show. Every time i search for some kind of pictures or info other than this thread for the Ontario's i get results for the pro show. Too bad I wasn’t able to go and see it in person and take my own pictures i would definitely taken the time to post it.

Congrats to all those who competed this weekend. My middleweight class was TOUGH. I would normally be disapointed with 4th but all top 5 were on this year and it was very close and gave me some good insight on what I need to do to make the improvements to confidently step on the National Level stage. Also got to give huge props to my trainer big PakMan! He was there every minute for me this week, made the time I needed to make the adjustments and meet with me all week and stuck with me throughout the show. He brought my physique to another level in just over half a year and I can't wait to see what he can do with me over a full healthy offseason!

I hope to christ the OPA did not pay that music guy a f'n dime for the poorest excuse for sound guy I've ever experience on any platform in my life. I've got a 3yr old nephew that could have done a better job than this clown. I'd say 70% or better of the posing routine music was not their own. And I've just got to say this one thing, on my way out to grab some food I seen Ron Hache schmoozing in the main lobby with people when he should have been in the sound and light room ripping that retarded music man a new asshole. PERIOD. I will leave it at that and hope they learn from their mistakes and make the show that much more next year.

Congrats to John as well, that kid is a freak in the making and has got to be on cloud nine today, that is a ton of accomplishment for such a young age and short time period. I just hope he knows how young he is and how much time he has to get to where he is obviously headed and doesn't push too hard and let it all come to him with the right amount of time. Too many younger guys burning themselves out by their mid 20's chasing the dream.

Great work everyone!

steve_d
19-06-2011, 02:15 PM
Yikes...i thought it was just your music they messed up!

That's horrible!

And well said about john...we had a similar conversation in the thread about the london show last november when he won that overall. Take his time, and he is one to keep an eye on...

Congrats on your finish! How was the keg?

Hey Hassan,

That sounds like a shitty go if they did that! Do you have any pic you care to show?

BigGuns21

I seen little to no comparisons throughout all weight classes, just top 5 callouts, madatories, next 5 mandatories, etc and a "thanks gentelmen, exit the stage". The actual Ontario's portion of the weekend gets a failing grade from me, I don't know what the others think. It was definitely rushed to make way for the Pro's. I'd rather see them split the show into 2 days if it meant proper comparisons and organization. Do the pre-judge Fri if you have to or even a portion, do the ladies pre-judge Fri, men's Sat morn, then get the night show going. Even little things like the pump up area were horrible, this is provincial level and they had a couple 20' and 30's db's sitting around the floor for 100 competitors and you always get the "rookies" who start cranking weights 2hrs before they go on stage so the guys who really need them are creating ways to get a pump.

Obviously the first year of a new thing is going to have hiccups, it has to be expected but I just didn't see anyone scrambling around trying to fix those problems, it was more like an "oh well, we'll get it right next year attitude". The music portion was inexcusable though. Instead of just to the point of litterally pushing guys out on stage to pose to ****in Katy Perry, take a 10min intermission and tell the guy to get his shit together or get someone who can. They were already behind as it was, 10min woulda been nothing.

Iflexit

I agree that the music situation was completely inexcusable. Guys worked long and hard on developing a good posing routine, and got it all ****ed up because the music guy couldn't figure it out. Some competitors refused to go on stage until they got their music right, and that is exactly what every competitor should have done.

I think the judging was spotty in some instances. Some of the placings seemed to be somehat suspect. However, the overall was definitely well deserved.

All in all, the caliber of competitors was totally first class. Congrats to everyone who competed.

Nationals aren't much different bro. top 5 get the callout and the 6th to 10th place guys aren't compared to the top 5 unless it's really close. Last year other than the heavyweight class there was no comparisons...my guess is that the head judge has a lot of influence on the callouts but i'm just guessing. I agree the music situation was very poorly handled though.

top 5 get the callout and the 6th to 10th place guys aren't compared to the top 5 unless it's really close. .

to be honest, even if it is close, they aren't likely going to get called in...thats why if you had access to the score sheets, what happens is there might be some people having 3rd, 4th, 5th interchanged betweeen judges, but never will the 6th place finisher have a 5th place vote. It's basically their way of judging in 'sets'....the argument for it is that it saves alot of time, and if someone is overlooked, its only the 4th - 7th place people, so not really affecting hardware. But sucks alot for people who really worked hard to make top 5 to not need to re-qualify for nationals. The good thing is lately it seems they often do a top 6 callout, which usually helps in that case.

Good for bodybuilding where there is little variance in scores, but horrible in figure and bikini where you get #2 and #8 flip flopping between judges sometimes!

In any case, the solution is simple. Leave adequate time for judging, and as big guns said, they needed to split the show...you cant have prejudging, finals, and a pro show finals in 1 day! Last years provincials was almost flawless, and prejudging was well executed. My class of only 6 guys had about 4 callouts! and I don't think it was even that difficult of a class to judge. Nationals is tricky to fix...you have large classes of many exceptional athletes, making judging hard enough to get it right from 1 to 5...let alone 4-8, 6-10, and so on. Getting the top 3 correct is almost the most you can ask for!

Congrats to you Prae , you looked awesome , very humble to keep to yourself and a good game plan !!!

The show itself was a little unorganized with their timing etc & WTF was with the DJ's not quing the music on time for many competitors ?

Thanks guys...sorry but i kept things hush hush this year and just wanted to sneak in and do my thing. I thought i had both classes actually...many guys including a few pros said I had it easy...but thats BB...i need to tighten things up a notch yet and come in much drier at the NA...taking a week off and then back on the plan.
What a long day...whew.

Thanks JMP...it happens...you have to be prepared for such things and be able to do an ad lib posing routine...things never always go according to plan...i guess its just Murphy's law/
