I completely back up this point. I didn't know the guy so i can't say for sure..

But nobody knows for sure that child porn was present. Do you all know how corrupt the police can be? Sometimes they will go to the extent of planting this on him, for extra strength to put him away in court.

Interesting when you think about it. There was a piece on CBC Atlantic about grow ops in N.S and how people were making 6 figures with little to no worry about repercussions since the most they'd likely get was either probation or a fine. The amount of the fine was pathetically small compared to the money they were raking in too. Police say they've broken up a drug-trafficking and money-laundering operation spanning three provinces and centred in Fredericton. The bust involved anabolic steroids and a gym outside the city.

Eighteen people were arrested Thursday in what police said was a bust that affected areas from the Maritimes to Ontario.

Corporal Gilles Blinn of the RCMP said a two-year investigation, code-named Operation Jellybean, culminated in raids at seven homes and six businesses in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario.

"Everyone who was arrested has been released, and charges are pending," Blinn said.

One business, a gym just outside Fredericton, has been put under a restraining order as offence-related property.

Staff Sgt. Ed MacEchern of the RCMP Drug Section said charges could include money laundering, trafficking and conspiracy to traffic cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs and anabolic steroids.

"[Operation Jellybean] started off, and remained throughout, a cocaine investigation," MacEchern said. "This was based on disrupting a cocaine industry here locally, in Fredericton. And to do that, we had to step outside Fredericton to some extent. During the investigation, we also encountered the sale of anabolic steroids and so on, and it caused us to go in that direction as well."

Among the items seized were cash, vehicles and drugs including steroids, prescription drugs and narcotics.

Police couldn't put a figure on the amount of steroids seized, but say as much as $600,000 a year was sold to a single buyer in the city.

Two weeks of court time have been set aside next January to delve into allegations that a Bridgewater man was running an international internet steroids operation from his home.

Kevin Wayne Tanner was in Bridgewater provincial court May 7 when trial dates were set for January 5 to 16.

Federal prosecutor Josh Bryson indicated the first few days will be used to probe allegations under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Customs Act and the Food and Drug Act. Those involve raw hormones, anabolic steroids and counteracting drugs Mr. Tanner was allegedly importing, producing and selling.

Mr. Bryson said lawyers will then decide if and how that evidence can be applied in the proceeds of crime case. Authorities are going after Mr. Tanner’s Elm Street home, a 2005 Pontiac Pursuit, a $16,500 investment account, and nearly $30,000 in cash, saying they are all proceeds of his illegal activity.

A separate trial date has been set for February 3 to hear other, somewhat unrelated charges. Those include allegations that Mr. Tanner had child pornography on a computer seized during the search and accessed a computer in late January 2007 after being ordered not to as a term of his release.

The LE are not the one's responsible for the court hearings or the outcome of the trials...the lawyer's are the one's that **** it up on technicalities, also, the punishment is decided upon by one person..the judge, and therein lies the problem, judges don't have a clue as to the seriousness of crimes or as to the actual repercussions of their decisions.....case and point, a guy kills his roommate on Victoria island and is caught 2 months later and he get 6 years in prison, the time he was being held without bail is counted as 3 to 1....so he was held for a 1.5 yrs = 4.5 on his conviction, plus good behaviour, buddy is out in 8 months. The system is ****ed not LE. LE always goes for the stiffest sentence they can get, crown decides if it will fly and they alwas want to bargain out for the lesser to avoid trial....because the judges always side with the criminal and always try to be nice and fair...with the criminal not the victim

The actuality of this is because it is closer to the EAST Coast. Pot, that has a high THC level around 12-17 (BC Bud) at the top end is traded on-par for cocaine out west....bring that bad boy out east to NB/NC/NL and you triple your money....same with shipping BCbud to those places it is sold and double to triple it's value...growing in QC saves transport time, delays detection since it is one huge prov with low ratio of police to land, and quick turn around, as opposed to shipping/ couriering the drugs from BC/ Alberta accross the country. They always go after cigs....problem is the reserves make it impossible...I have been pulled voer before for speeding and they found the 200 cig baggie with only 20 cigs in it..the cop cut me a break and said "dude atleast have the common sense to take it out of the tell-tale baggie and put them in a regular cigarette box...that way I don't just see it, otherwise it is automatic...we can arrest".
