Scientists have discovered that spinach contains a natural steroid which boosts muscle growth by 20 per cent.
Boffins at Rutgers University in New Jersey made the discovery after extracting the plant chemical – known as phytoecdysteroid – and placing it on samples of human muscle.
Follow-up tests which involved injecting it into rats confirmed it works. There's just one catch. To get enough to pump up your pecs you'll have to eat more than two pounds of the stuff every day.
So odds are none of us chows down on 2 pounds of spinach everyday but I posted this because over the years I have seen so many guys working so hard to build a better body and eating like crap then wondering why whatever they are doing is not working. A few of these same fellows eat like a diet of junk food and take lots of supplements and then when they do not make the gains they think they should they blame the supplements. Besides eating so much crap they could not see any gains they might be making.
