I am by no means a great golfer , but I love the sport. We just went out for the first time this year and I broke my 8 iron ( head went flying after a shot ) this is the second club that has broken since I've had this set. I have had it for 10 years or so. I thought clubs would last longer than that. Granted these are not the best clubs and and can't even tell you what brand they are.

So I'm looking at getting a new set of irons - Nothing too expensive as I have seen sets for $800 plus. I don't even want to spend $500. I do see a nice set at Golf town for $150 regular $450 ( Founders Club ) and I thought I would pick them up.

Any ideas on a decent set or brand that will last a while ? I plan on doing lots of golf this year ( and years to follow ) so I do want something that will last .

Just thought I would get some ideas. Last year I did pick up a used CObra driver and I love it , so I though I might stay with Cobra ( aprox $400-$800 for irons)

I got my ping irons on eBay. $1200 irons for under $500 as I recall. Helped they were also the previous year model.

I went to Golf Town and tried a bunch of sets to find the one I liked the best then went searching online :)

I think that's what I will do Nate. Going to GT today to test out a few and maybe pick up a single 8 iron for now then I'll go digging for the set I like used somewhere. I was even thinking about pro shops. The last one I was in had a 50% off bin .

I got the whole shabang for $200 off kijiji. Trolly, bag, Irons, woods, putter. I added to it, with a big dawg, hybride and a new putter.
Perhaps next year i will buy a new set.. but for now, I'm happy!

Yeah, Last year i picked up a used driver for $100 ( regualr $500 ) from ebay and now I just picked up a new 2009 set of irons ( AW - 4ir ) for $300. Golf town has some good deals as they clear out the older models - Dirvers, wedges and fareway woods / hybrids for $50-$100.
