The first 2 pics are of 2 nationally qualified bikini competitors preping for the USA's...the 3rd pic is of Canadian National level bikini athletes.
Big differences in these physiques. Not saying one is better than the other just saying they are way different. Any opinions? Anyone prefer one look over the other? Seems in Canada you have to be 20 years old to place well and in the US they favor a more mature physique (just generalizing of course there are exceptions).

Usa for the win, at least you can tell they have been in a gym, and actually pushed away the cheesecake a few times during prep.....I like the look of the usa Comps personally much better...Just like the olympia bikini division shut a few people up, those chicks were ripped and feminine and looked like they lived the lifestyle of a gym goer.....

The Canadian girls look like bikini contestants during spring break on some random beach or bar and the Americans look more like a true fitness bikini competitor.

Unfortunately in Canada, the girls' judging has adopted the Tim Horton's hockey philosophy - everyone should get a trophy. And by the looks of it the Canadian girls have stocked up on Tim Horten's donuts.

OMG, I laughed so hard when I read this.

I wish Canada favoured the US bikini look more. I would buy some big boobs and switch from figure to bikini for sure if they did. I always loved fitness modelling and struttin' it onstage (back in the good old FAME days). But I'm affraid my ego could not handle coming last to girls who don't even appear to work out.
Maybe the judging will change over time.

Nothing stops Canadian competitors from entering a NPC show...issues come only when National Qualifier...you have to be US citizen to enter Nationals down there,,,just like Americans can't come up here and compete in our Nationals...good posts above...agree with all of you.

Just went to some NPC shows...the fugure girls down there still have some muscle on their physique as well and not the smoother look like leaning towards in Canada..the lines between bikini and figure in Canada are so blurry the competitors aren't even sure where it's headed ..one show its one way..the next show..the other

Yep, no point in competing in NPC for me. I like to compete in shows that could qualify me for National events.

You find figure girls here softer than the US? At the national level here in Canada they still favour big ripped girls . IMHO I think the pro's we put through at the National show are too big and ripped for the figure pro stage.

Our highest ranking Canadian pro in the past year or so is Natalie Waples, other than Jane Awad, (see second pic below - she went pro at North Americans - could not break into the top 5 at Cdn Nationals next to the big ripped girls). She has great shape and symmetry but you would never call her big and ripped and she places higher in pro shows than all the canadian figure pro's on the circuit right now.

Not sure how old these rankings are...

Another example of this is Nina Luchka (first pic below - IMO the best canadian figure pro ever) only Canadian I can remember qualifying and competing in the figure Olympia. Again not a big girl but perfect shape and symmetry.

It took the US a few years to figure out the bikini class too, Canada will get there. I just hope they choose to favour the girls that will do best on the pro stage.

Agree for sure AngeD that the National girls are nice hardened physiqes...but if you compare most of the provincial associations qualifying events and "some" of the provincial winners, the provinces are not on the same page...some still place the more muscled physiques while others place the softer smoother look...thus...the confusion. Usually in BB the experienced observer can place the top competitiors. There may be some discrepancy in the actual placement (second instead of third etc) but it is way more difficult in figure and from my experience, thats why figure has more controversial placements...just sayin...
