And easily too wow.
Crazy .
I've always wondered about when to start my kids training. Since they have been around it there whole life ( in and out of gyms ) they are very interested. I've got them doing chin ups and push ups , etc... I've tried to get them under the bar and that was too heavy :)

I'm putting up this link for you all to have a look at. In a nutshell it says there is nothing wrong with resistance training when young and i agree. Talo, i've seen vids with your children in them, haveing someone as knowledgable as you to teach them the right way, there's no reason why they can't start young.

Getting them to listen to me is another story :)
I do have them do body weight squats and another easy exercises. I never push them as I don't want to discourage them and they seem to love it.

Proper training. I hardly touched weights. It was merely from over use playing competitive hockey and doing muay thai. May also have been partially genetic but I only have it in my elbows...

child abuse
how is this child abuse? Normally I have the same sort of attitude when I come across things like this....and while you could be right, I don't necessarily see anything wrong with this. sure, its not a typical sport for a 9 year old, but why do 9 year old girls need to play soccer or join ballet or dance? Or why would a 9 year old boy for that matter be in hockey or baseball?
As long as the sport isn't hurting them, I see nothing wrong with it. Forcing them in it is another story, but I don't think talent at this level is achieved without at least some sort of desire on the childs part. As for myself, I grew up doing the sports I was good at. I tried hockey, I wasn't good, I therefore didn't learn to like it. Baseball, same idea. At age 12 I found out I was good at endurance events, running, swimming, etc. I spent my entire teen years cycling. Very atypical sport for a teen, but I was good at it so I liked it. This girl seems to be pretty good at squatting, and will likely continue because of the sense of accomplishment she gets from it. Not because her parents force her to like it (because they do). Now, I am sure that goes on all the time, but its not necessarily the case here.
