Its basically a starvation diet....approx 800 cals...HCG itself does NOT burn fat in any way whatsoever. Yes you will lose weight...mostly lean muscle mass...welcome to becoming skinny but fat.
P
but girl do it too ,, hcg isnt not dangerous for reproductive system ??? i thought hcg made for men only ,,

Its the biggest crock out there...its been around for a few years now and I know people who have done it....basically its a starvation diet...800 or less calories...so you do drop weight yes but you lose alot of lean mass in the process...the HCG itself does not burn fat...it supposedly helps with appetite control but from what i have seen is quite useless.
Dont waste your time or money...there are right ways to do things and wrong ways...this is blatantly wrong...anyone educated in nutrition and pharmacology would see this.
P
it's popular because it' advocate not exercising

oh man...my wifes friend must have seen this episode of dr. oz
i think they need about 150-200iu per day..and the 500cal diet is where they weight loss comes from as others have said. So thats about 5000iu per month....why not use HGH at 1iu per day then...more benefits from that.

Ok, I spent a bit of time researching this. This is the one article that is often cited in support of this diet (please note that the mean age of the men was 67 years old and they were androgen deficient)
A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Randomized Clinical Trial of Recombinant Human Chorionic Gonadotropin on Muscle Strength and Physical Function and Activity in Older Men with Partial Age-Related Androgen Deficiency

Abstract
Despite partial androgen deficiency, the safety and efficacy of androgen therapy in older men remains controversial because controlled studies of testosterone have given equivocal results. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) can be conveniently and infrequently self-administered, and it increases not only circulating testosterone but also estradiol and other testicular steroids. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of 3 months of treatment with sc recombinant hCG (r-hCG, Ovidrel) on muscle mass, strength, mobility, and physical activity in ambulant, community-dwelling men more than 60 yr old having partial androgen deficiency (testosterone <= 15 nmol/liter, twice). Forty eligible men (mean age, 67 yr; range, 60–85 yr) were randomized to receive r-hCG (5000 IU, 250 µg) or placebo by twice weekly sc self-injection and were studied before treatment, monthly during treatment, and 1 month after treatment. All completed the study, and treatment groups were well matched. r-hCG significantly increased body weight (~1 kg; P < 0.05) and lean body mass (~2 kg; P < 0.001) and reduced fat mass (~1 kg, P < 0.05). However, anthropometric measures of skinfold thickness (biceps, triceps, subscapular, suprailiac) and circumferences (midarm, waist, hip, and midthigh), including the waist-hip ratio, did not change significantly. Shoulder and knee strength (peak torque), as measured by isokinetic and isometric dynamometry, was not significantly increased, nor was physical activity (accelerometry and Physical Activity Scale for Elderly self-report) or gait and balance (modified Guralnik and Frailty and Injuries: Cooperative Studies of Intervention Techniques performance batteries) altered. Total and free testosterone and estradiol were markedly (150%; P < 0.001) and stably increased, whereas LH, FSH, and urea were significantly decreased. Testis volume was significantly decreased (~5 ml; P < 0.05). There were no significant changes in hemoglobin, osteocalcin, or prostate-specific antigen, and the International Prostate Symptom Score did not change. Three men developed nipple tenderness that did not progress to gynecomastia. We conclude that 3 months of treatment with twice weekly r-hCG demonstrates sustained androgenic effects on hormones and muscle mass but has no effect on muscle strength or physical functioning.

All other studies have dis-proven it. So on paper, this is a sham diet used to make money off the weak and desperate. If there is a study (from a trusted source) that shows it will preserve lean body mass on such a low calorie intake, please someone post it up. Many will swear they lost weight on it and I will totally agree with them. On ~500 cals a day even an anorexic will lose weight. The main importance here is the preservation of LEAN BODY MASS while losing fat and NOT JUST WEIGHT LOSS as weight loss is inevitable.

i like how they failed to mention hcg isnt available at your local GNC or supplement store. I don;t have enough fingers on my body to count how many times women come in each day and ask if we sell hcg.
when i tell them the diet is a crock of crap, they say well Oprah said its great. Ya right have u seen her body?
now u have all these hcg sites pushing who knows what in a bottle, but yet the diet wants you to use injectable hcg.
