is there a scenario where reducing your cardio may lead to further fat loss? (ie you have built your way up to a decent amount of cardio and fat loss has plateaued)

under what circumstances would INCREASING your carbs result in further fat loss (assuming not on keto)

thanks

Reducing cardio equals burning less calories....the only time ive seen reducing cardio help is when someone is completely overdoing things and ending cortisol levels through the roof...then a reduction can help. Adding carbs may increase fat loss if the client has a thyroid issue.

I know George Farah is a big believer in little to no cardio with higher carbs. He has the 'let the diet do the work mantra" and says he doesnt take anyone over 30 min cardio a day. I remember reading with several clients he has even decreased or eliminated cardio sometimes 4-5 weeks out and raises protein and carbs. Regardless, his claim to fame clients are all genetic freaks so i dunno if it means much. Maybe some of the guys who have worked with him on this site can chime in

Some guys can get away with no cardio...most cannot...including genetic freaks....Dorian and Ronnie both still did cardio. I have yet to have a client get shredded without some cardio and i have worked with some very genetically gifted people.

i ask because my body seems to adapt and i hit sticking points, im wondering if there is an answer to this issue besides "more cardio less carbs"

last time i dieted down i got stuck as per usual (at about 8-10 percent bf). jonnyo told me to add a bunch more food and reduce my cardio and BAM, leaned out some. hard to say why... possibly just metabolic increase due to the food and nothing to do with the cardio? id like to understand the process and pathway more

It all depends on where you start...some people start with much too low calories, too much cardio etc. The key to dropping fat consistently is to never allow the body to adapt...thus changes are necessary during the duration of the diet. I cant tell where your problem is without knowing where you started from. The idea is to make small changes over time to keep the fat coming off.

Yes I remember, and you had a few issues going against you at that time too....one of them was a digestive issue if I remember correctly. You could have gotten on stage then though it wouldnt have been a healthy choice.
