View Full Version : micellar casein causing irregularity?

I've added micellar casein shakes to my diet the last few days before bed and found that I couldn't digest it. I've had a lot of bloat and stomach cramps so instead substituted for cottage cheese before bed.

I've since been using the casein in between meals when I'm more active thinking it would digest easier and although there's no more cramping and bloat, I notice now it's going right through me. Is this common with some or is it just an adjusting period? Should I simply drop the casein?

Do you have problems with lactose?

Lactose allergies: almost 3/4ths of the world
Symptoms: gastro, nausea, diarrhea, bloating, flatulence

Casein allergies: about 3%
Symptoms: itchy skin, gastro, respiratory problems

Often related but one can be present without the other. Have you tried adding digestive enzymes with it? Might help if it's not an allergy and you are just having trouble digesting it.

I've never had any issues with other dairy products. The only other diet change I forgot to mention...actually wife reminded me tonight is that I've been eating more cottage cheese than usual. Maybe the combination is too much? I probably had 5 cups yesterday and 5 cups today, along with the casein shakes. I'm going to drop the casein tomorrow and change them to whey again and see what happens in a couple of days.

Or maybe drop the amount of cottage cheese.I guess, you can try both and see!
