Thanks for the vid

I found those walking lunges to be interesting. Using a chain and hitting one leg at a time the way he was looks like the way to go.

If you check out the new Muscle & Fitness magazine there is a Mountaindog Training article in there that gives a good description of what its all about.

I dont understand the 6inch ROM on the leg press. Is that beneficial for anything?

Have a look at the leg press #8 and let me know if you see something that looks a little out of place or different. I'll give you a hint, look just under the plates that are loaded.

You can also do them one leg at a time in a rack with a barbell. That's the way I like to do lunges. Keep going till the leg gives out. Then squat under the bar bring it back up and do the other leg. Just have to alternate which leg goes first because it makes a difference.

i saw some bands on the machine. the bands in that placement would be assisting in the lift but adding resistance on the negative. i still dont get it. bands or not, how does a 6inch ROM help develop strength more effectively than a full or mostly full ROM?

6" ROM is a bit of an exaggeration, lol. There is a lot of weight on there, and he told me the sled alone is over 300lbs. So they must be pushing a lot of weight and not worrying too much about a full ROM that day on the press as they were with moving some serious weight to tax the system before moving onto hacks, where they are going bottom deep. PLers will do this for bench press as well in a cage, reverse band bench. He's had me incorporate a lot of sets of 5 reps and band work for chest and it had improve my strength greatly.

Working certain parts of a rep will help develop strength in that area so when you come back to doing full reps you should be getting stronger. Sometimes we just do partials from the bottom up to 2/3 way up wit heavy weight, it sure fires up those deep muscle fibers.
