ok heres the 411
been in the gym for 3 years solid now, seems like because i dont really know how to train for strongman i never stick with it for more then i few months at a time and bounce back to a pretty generic bodybuilding workout routine.
not sure if it matters but incase your wondering where my lifts are at my pr's are
bench, 405
squat 585
deadlift 545
overhead barbell press 275

what im looking for is a routine that i can use ( in the gym ) my gyms pretty oldschool no new fancy machines just the basic machines but the one thing i do have to work with is a power cage.

can anyone give me a good routine to work with so i can start training for strongman and eventualy enter into some competitions ? all advice and opinons welcome.

Do you have any SM implements? I'm working on a program right now, I'll post it when I'm done but I would definitely recommend getting some implements. even just an axel and some farmers rails to start with. Where are you on the island? There is a top SM named Matt Parkes in Vic, not sure if he's competing anymore but he would be a good guy to get in touch with.

Can you PM me your email address? I have some prints for equipment, and am in need of a steel log. Perhaps we can help each other out!

I have been training and competing for strongman competitions since 2007. I am a LW athlete and have aquired my equipment here and there over the years.
Axle- Solid steel all the way through. Best way to go as the bar will not bend or break!
Log- Used a PVC pipe and had a frame built to fit inside. Very good replica of a steel log.
Stones- Slater Stone molds....
Tire- Kal Tire
Yoke- Welders
Farmers- Welders
Keg- Local pubs

We have more stuff but this is some of the basics. As for my training, I train 4 days a week. One day of Squats, then Pressing, then Deadlifts, and the fourth day is event training. I train tues, wed, Fri, and Sunday. This fits my schedule.

As for Matt Parkes, I'm not sure if he is competing anymore. I have not heard from the Island crew in a very long time.

I am by no means a pro, but i do love the sport and this is how I have been training. I follow other training regimines from LW Pros from the USA. My favourite LW Pro is Tom Muttafis. Pound for Pound he is one of the strongest guys out there.

Finally, your lifts are good enough to compete now. Just get out there and do it.
