I was shocked to see this...good thing Steve and I are not show dieting this season, we would easily eat 3 heads of lettuce between the 2 of us daily if we were! Seems cheaper to eat chicken and take fibre supp's! Last year I was often buying lettuce 2 for $1.

Cuc's, celery, peppers are all high in price now too!
I'm interested to know if the dieters out there right now just don't care about prices or have you found any good deals on veggies?? or different veggies to try??

We would be broke paying these crazy prices! and I really think we would just eat chicken and protein powder for 12 weeks, lol.

You can blame the frost in California over the last few week for the recent high prices in lettuces and thing like tomatoes. The cold weather killed a lot of the crops there. However the price are just going to keep going up with the new oil situation!

Canada didnt have a great year for growing either so purchasing local has been limited this year , going to see alot of greenhouse grown veggies this year.

Great plan, we are moving out east and will have lots of land to plant a nice garden on...I have heard that deer and rabbit eat a lot of what is planted out there. I'll have to research how to keep animals out of gardens!

A lead pill coming at them at about 2500 fps.......Or a good ol 12 guage does the trick.....They also look and go great with the veggies you grow...mmmmmmhhhhmmmmm

I've heard ( not sure if it's true ) that hair spread around the garden will keep them out.

Either that or get a nice dog , he will keep them out of the yard :)

its only going to get worst.
not only did frost wipe out the crops in florida and california. It recently wiped out all the crops in Mexico!!!!

i own a restaurant and we have been told to expect crazy prices and shitty product with poor yield.

as for food prices on a whole, they are expected to rise 10% this year.

hahaha...I'm not sure I could do that. Meat prices would have to get really high for me to start killing the animals in my yard (but you never know, lol).

Sorry to hear that for your restaurants sake.
Funny, Steve and I don't eat at restaurants often but we were at East Side Marios a few weeks ago and we joked about going there everyday for all you can eat salad (hold the dressing) while dieting. I'm not sure how much longer they will be able to offer "all you can eat" salad. Not very long if Steve and his brother go there!

Dogs work amazing at keeping animals off of property, and they make a great excuse to get out and do some cardio! oh and there fun as hell to play with, I recommend a Doberman ;)
