View Full Version : Training too much? In regard to repair time..
So in the last 2 weeks ive changed my workout routines to cover each muscle group twice per week. My goal in this is to utilize the gear I am running (faster repair). I am on 600mg Cyp, 600mg EQ and 200mg Tren A per week.
My diet is quite good. May not eat "enough" but I am def 3500 cals with proteins and fats being of the highest intake.
I am bagged, all the time! I get 8-9 hrs sleep each night...(thc induced)
Am I better off sticking to it, or switching back to once per week for optimal repair?
Thanks in advance,
War

!. You are not eating enough!!!
2. Just because you are on cycle doesn't mean you will recover faster...training each body part once every 6-7 days is more than enough if you are training with significant intensity.

No offense, but quit smoking pot and see what a difference it makes to your overall health. I went from smoking multiple times a day(like 6+) to quitting altogether for work and I've never felt so rested, positive and full of vigor in my life. That shit affects your sleep, you aren't resting well if you go to bed baked. If you are smoking duringthe day and training hard you're going to bed absolutely destroyed the entire day, it makes you lazy enough as it is.
As Praetorian said, you need to eat way more, and probably cut back on the training. I'm sure you're doing more than 3 sets in an exercise so maybe scale back the amount of volume if you wish to train twice a week.
I appreciate the responses guys, thanks. I'll do some explaining.
My overall goal is fat-loss and lean muscle gain. My plan with twice per week regimen was to workout at 60% weight intensity, more of a circuit type training. With my regular workout style, I do at least 5 sets of each. Ive had excellent results since my start date of Jan.1, 2011, with that being said the more results we see the more results we want to see and look to optimize even though you may already have an excellent program and just need to stick too it.
As for the pot. I see where you are coming from. I think the stuff actually effects people in different ways. You were a 6+ per day smoker, way ahead of me. I smoke a very small amount with a vaporizer about an hour before bed and I feel its an excellent sleep. My motive is therapy, muscle relaxing, stress relieving and it really aids in me not cracking a beer. I was born and raised in Ireland, the booze is already in my blood stream haha. I am 2.5 months without booze, a first in about 15 years!
When I say I am "tired" its my muscles that are tired, not my body so to speak. I think the Tren tires me out also but im willing to sacrifice.
I'll try to eat more and I'll also do a trial week of no thc induced sleeps ;)

A few things...if you are looking to lose fat than you will be maintaining muscle mass NOT building it....you dont build muscle in a calorie deficit. That being said the idea of training each body part twice weekly forces you to reduce intensity as you said to 60% or so. Training at 60% intensity basically means you are going to maintain about 60% of your lean mass and lose about 40%...if you are ok with that then you are good to go. The body will reduce its overall lean mass in a calorie deficit if it does not see the need to maintain it...lifting intensely ie 6-10 reps to failure with heavy weights tells the body it requires this lean mass because of this specific stress being put on it.
You do NOT build nor maintain mass doing circuit training....you can lose fat doing this yes because it becomes an aerobic workout but your overall lean mass will be reduced ie no specific stress telling the body to keep it...not a good thing.
As for the pot....smoking before bed is affecting your REM sleep....this is the time your body actually repairs itself and the muscles recover from the stress applied during training....without adequate REM sleep your recovery ability is severely affected and your gains/fat loss/muscle maintenance becomes quite literally limited!

Fat loss comes from diet and exercise, lift heavy once per week like praetorian said (listen to him!). Lifting at 60% and doing a circuit may have your heart rate more elevated for the workout but don't get your cardio from the weights (imo). If you want 'lean' gains you still need to eat more, you will not lose fat and build muscle. One or the other.
As for the drugs, well that's up to you but don't rely on another drug to ween off alcohol! You have to tell yourself whats right. After smoking dope for a while and stopping, you're sleeps will be disturbed the first few nights, push through it.
EDIT: P beat me to it by 2 mins :)
Thanks guys, I appreciate experienced knowledge.
LifeJacket, You pointing out the "relying on a drug to ween off alcohol" is right on the money ;)
And yes, thanks P. Ive read your 273 page Q&A and I trust and value your words. I would have sworn I get killer sleep with the vape.....oh well
