Just wanted to share with you that I just returned from Future Shop. My TV broke down, the one that is barely 3 years old and that I paid $4,000.00 for. You know, the 42" DLP rear projection technology that is now worth $1500.00of which they wanted to give me again in another manufacturer? You know, the t.v. that is now worth jellybeans.

Let's talk about the power of persuasion, the ability to make friends at Future Shop, and the fight for the right to own new technology. The TV manager was female and a tough nut to crack, but in the end everyone must realize that one should never go against a Sicilian when her electronics are on the line.

I walked out of there with a brand new 46" Sony LCD HD television with free delivery and a free 10 month Rogers HD box.

Life is good.:D

Moral of the Story: You purchase the extended warranty, pray every day that it breaks down, and then go back in guns ablazing and fight for the upgrade!!

Cheers!

Yes! One of the guys who was helping me out said to me that when your t.v. has a meltdown under warranty, you're laughing because the technology keeps changing. They have to give you the equivalent or better. The DLP rear projection was the hot thing 3 years ago but now it's LCD as you know. They didn't even carry my model anymore. The other thing is that when I called for repair, they told me they would order parts for it, but then I got a call from Future Shop head office telling me they didn't want to fix it. They would rather replace it with a new one instead of paying because it costs them more money to fix an outdated unit.

He told me that when the manager offered me the equivalent, to be firm and say no that I wanted the new technology. They don't have to match price only features. Customers are always losing out because the technology keeps changing but I told her because I spend so much money there and because I spent $4,000 originally, I wanted the LCD. She gave in after a while. The model I got is selling for $3,000 so it worked out great!

I got another warranty because now I know I will get an LCD or better depending what pops up in the next 4 years. So with a little luck my new t.v. will melt down just before the end of the warranty....lol

Sorry for the long winded post! LOL I guess I'm giddy from this great score!

Next Superbowl at my place folks!!:D

Good on you. Only things I would ever suggest an extended warrenty is a lcd/plasma giant tv and expensive laptops.

As a fellow italian, I had my run in at futureshop 10 years ago. Got an awesome deal after the runaround. They are hard to deal with when they got to dish out cash but if you stick to their warrenty, you will win at the end.
