The fact that you are posting this is evidence that it has caused you some concern.
Don't know anything about you, your age, your training history and how much wt you were lifting and if the pain was sharp or persisted...but if it wasn't "muscle pain" and I'm assuming it wasn't because you're asking and again assuming you train regularly and know your body and what muscle pain is ...you might be wise to visit a doctor...

only deadlifting? could be really dehydrated...
if not that, could be pulling a muscle. I had this during deadlifts only on 1 side, but if you had that, you'd pretty much know exactly what it is

Well, the answer is pretty straight forward in this case. Proper hydration is the foremost culprit but not to be mistaken as being just on a H2O issue, electrolytes are the vital and priceless components in this apparently conplex and baffling circumstance. It could have been your quads or a hamstring or a calf - just happens to be your chest in this particular situation.
Get yourself to a natural health food store where they sell 'health foods' and what not and request a small bottle of electrolytes, the sort where you can add about three of four drops to your workout drink (be it water or something else). This won't add flavour but will go a long way in preventing muscle cramping. Typically it is an issue directly related to zinc and ther minerals
Stay away from the heavily sugared drinks like Powerade and Gatorade, these are laced with sugar and will do little to alievant the cramping except make you increasingly more thirsty.
