Somehow they missed my name...I'll have to write to them to ensure I get on the list..LOL...NOT!!!
Talo, do you find that the records are being broken at almost every meet in each category or are there some there that are exceptional (they're all exceptional)...maybe almost unbreakable would be better phrase....at least in your opinion.
That Alberta meet was a beauty for the Canadians...:flagC
Raw is belt only is that correct...no knee / wrist wraps etc..what about shirt?

I see your name in there, good work man......very good...:beer
Id like to try it out someday....
There were a few world records broken in Vegas , but not too many. They are fairly high up there . I think the 220's total close to 1700lbs
The event in Calgary ALL Canadian records were created as it was the first meet in Canada so it will be awhile before they get stabble :)
Raw was belt only but in 2011 they are letting people use wrist wraps too.

Yeah , thanks man. I was hoping to crush my squat record this year ( my total actually ) but that isin't going to happen.
You should get up there in July . It's in Calgary again .

I actually found a lot of the lifts weren't that impressive. I only looked through the 165, 181, and 198 classes. I am finally getting back into the powerlifting movements, and alot of the records I could break, individual and total. there was a crazy bench though in the 198 at just under 530...but the next guy on the list was like 100 pounds less.
What's with the strict curl? I've never see that before

It's a bit of an illusion SD...Sometimes the way most of us lift doesn't really cut it with the rules on what qualifies for an official lift..some numbers like you say weren't that sensational but they are pretty damn good..if you get a chance check out the rules and try a lift or two as per their criteria..bastards in most cases..just sayin

I am familiar with powerlifting. Have competed in many, many, many events. I am not saying the lifts aren't good. I am saying they are world records...that's all, many federations have their own records, and lots of people get all crazy about how they shouldn't be thought of as the best of the world...I am just being one of those guys this time.
The reason being, at the Raw Unity meet in tampa couple weeks back, my brother basically almost breaks the world record, and during the live web feed, I am basically saying he might do it before he gets the lift (on some live chat part of the live feeD)...then all these guys typing in saying 'yeah whatever, its not a world record'...then I ask, well what is...So their response basically is try 100% raw record, and then talk about a guy who has the record...but after a few back and forths they realize they were wrong, and in fact, there was no other organization that had a better lift. (at least I think, but I am still learning about all the raw feds, so I could be wrong...And wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong to be honest)
My point is, I wish they could just frigging join up and have 1 raw federation once and for all.
Sign up and break them.
I might...but the thing is, it might be in another federation, which maybe I won't have the record.

No need to be a jack'ass' the thriller about it. lol...
yes, 90% of the time, people have posts like I have and have no clue what they are talking about, nor do they know the rules of the lifts, depth, pauses, etc. And a gym lift is NOT a meet lift.
Like I've said, I've competed many times, only once raw, but my raw lifts were at the CPU nationals, I just lifted raw for fun. Since then, injuries plagued me. But, crossing my fingers as after 1 year away from squats or deads, and basically 3-4 months off from any leg movements, I am back at it.
first workout in deads was 3 plates for a couple. next was 4 plates for 6, 2 workouts later 475 x 11 deadlifts. Squats are coming along too, 455 x 12 not quite parallel, but close - box squats. Bench is actually my suffering injury exercise now, 305x11.
I weigh 185. May be doing raw nationals in june at either 165 or 181. If 181i'd like to squat 500, deadlift 650, bench 400, again, raw.

Just re-looked and realized, these weren't records, which I thought...they were 2010 rankings...sorry, this makes it a big difference from my earlier comments.
You can check out the World records on their site. 220's total around 1700 -
These are tested events and if the event that your brother went to is also tested then I agree as I don't see the point in having many different federations if they are all the same in the end.
CPU - Tested, yes, but they use single ply gear
GPC - Not tested and no limit as to what gear they can use (single, double, open back) this is the same as WPC - Even the raw event that they now have lets you use knee wraps.
100% Raw - tested and belt only up to this year with the allowance of wrist wraps
This always gets brought up :)

Shit SD..ur lifts are good for just coming back..sometimes that rest and some healing works wonders. You got back fast..way faster than me. I might have been too cautious too.
You should think about gettin ur ass in there with those numbers.

Also, didn't realize this was tested either (although, that opens up a whole other can of debate) ie, whether all the world records were truly clean, etc). Like I said, just getting back into the world of powerlifting after a few years off. Especially raw, which is all new to me (federations, etc).

Which they are not.
Any time a world or National record is broken ( in this federation ) they will test you. One exception was in Calgary last July they tested 10% of the lifters at random because all records were made :)

Came back fast I think because of the nature of the injury...It was one of those things that I knew one day I would just wake up and feel 90%. End of november I could not have deadlifted 135 (I tried, and felt like I might tear open a tendon in my glute/ham)...But once that went away, it was just a matter of getting used to the form.
Don't get me wrong, I still need a decent warm-up, and I can't push it too much yet....but I think in a couple months I will surpass all my personal bests - I already have in the squats.
I complained about the injury a couple times on this board, but man, does it ever feel great to get back to those movements. I no longer have an imbalance in my right leg that was very obvious on stage last provincials either. Hopefully I can stay injury free for a while now....Knock on wood

Good for you..hopefully it holds up for you and you can stay at it hard...again knock on wood. Isn't that an awesome feeling when you get in there one day and you know right away you can go with it again..

Sweet. I have been thinking about doing some competitive powerlifting for awhile now. I am about 165lbs right now and looking at the list I could do pretty good. No firsts but all my lifts would be in the top 20 and my total would be 6th or so. I do have a few injuries I would need to work through first though. Are the upcoming meets at the website?
http://www.rawpowerlifting.com/
There is a meet coming up at the end of July in Calgary.

For the testing do they have a list of banned substances? Or is it just based on some international standard?
There is a list on the web site. It's a big one so make sure you read it.
I know I had to change my allergy medication because it has some banned stuff in it.
They do not test everyone. I believe it is around 10% of the lifters and anyone that breaks a National or World record.

OK thanks Talo, I didn't see it on the website the first time I looked but I looked again and found it. I will check it out.
The form for the Calgary ( Nationals) meet in July should be uploaded now. If not I will send you a link. June 1st is the deadline so there is still lots of time.
Hey Talo....can you point me in the right direction or post up a link so I can see what the lifts are for raw powerlifters in canada who are not tested. Not just the records but the winning numbers of an event as well? Meaning they are all obviously using something.
I'm throwing around the idea of competing in a years time and am curious. I would prefer a raw meet to get my feet wet. I also woudn't want to embarrasse myself and would like to see what a descent total looks like in Canada these days.
GPC has a few meets a year . They do not test the lifts and the added s raw class last year.
The next meet for them is in May. There is some great guys in the GPC I wouldn't worry about embarrassing yourself.
