im not prepping for any show right now but i juz started my diet today. Basically, juz gotta focus on the end result and use the visualization. Set a goal and do ur best to achieve it. My motivation comes from people in the gym, friends, family, people on the board, and zhasni's videos ofcourse lol

Really there is no mental preparation before hand....on the day before i start my pre-contest diet I prepare all my food, have my running shoes ready at the door, set my alarm before bed and when i wake up its 16 weeks to show day...no BS, no cheating (except scheduled refeed), no missed cardio, no missed training, no missed meals, all meals are scheduled and eaten at specific times, get to bed and get up same time every day...like you are in boot camp in the army. Everything is planned, all items needed for the diet ie supps, cycle etc are all ready to go...there is no such thing as "oh i ran out of this or that"
I dont accept anything less....anything less is failure and irresponsibility...that is not in my vocabulary!
Its quite simple...you make a decision to do something and you hold yourself accountable! The time for talking is done...start walking.

Choose the behaviour, choose the consequence. It's very simple. Expect and prepare for everything, including exactly what you want as well as the unexpected.

Truly in this game there is no try. It's simple: A + B = C.

And plan to execute with excellence, purpose, and with joy, not in martyrdom and whining (not suggesting that this is characteristic of you, just something I see a lot).

If you find you just can't wait for the whole thing to be over, you'll have to ask yourself if you've chosen the right path for you.

I agree with everyone above. Although i do some type of mental/physical preparation. If im going from structured offseason dieting with the occasional cheat meal i will begin by slowing scaling back on the junk abouut 2-3 weeks before i start. Then as the time comes closer i introduce some foods i will be eating to get used to it so its not such a shock. While this is going on im making notes of what is working, what foods i need to buy and how long it will take to prepare for x days. Then 2-3 days out ill start cutting it back to almost the diet. Then 16 weeks out the first day ive already transitioned but from that morning out absolutly no slips no mistakes.

Great thread Talo.......Im just in this mode right now......Well as of next Monday........
I admit i go out of my way to eat some shit the last week, kind of saying good-bye........
When i am in the mode, i absolutely love it....I also find it spills over to other avenues of my life....My career is more focused, my motivation is sky high....As Crystol said, i dont whine, bitch etc (very annoying to read or be around)....In fact i get happier, but that is my personality, i work very well with pressure and a goal.....
Countrychic and i become a very solid team, help each other, nearly not even a dis agreement, But we are on point...
There are no missed workouts, rarely a missed meal, no running out of anything......Pain is pleasure for me......Everything i do in the gym and at the table is with a purpose....
Offseason, i find is easier to get off track, eaier to skip my hardest workout of the week (rare, yet easier). When the countdown is on, i dont want it to end.....
Im even more excited this yr as i think im going to get help, rather than have a bit of help, and trying on my own Nutrition wise.....Not for me.....I get weird the last couple of weeks and take drastic measures....lolol..Going from carb to keto, back to carb cycling again....d'oh!!!;)

You may not think this is a mental prep , but it is and a very good one.

No matter how you go about it , your mind state changes and you set your self up to do your best .

You may call it mental prep...I call it instinct.
