View Full Version : Motorcycle stalls if I let clutch out even a cm
I got some good advice on here earlier so I figured I'd ask again on a bike issue. I just put a brand new battery in my bike and it was running in mint condition when I last rode it roughly a month ago.
Now, as soon as I let the clutch out even a cm (way below the friction point) in first gear it just stalls. This happened a dozen times in a row so I know Im not stalling it for lack of bike riding ability.
What is wrong with my bike? None of my fuses are blown btw.
is your kickstand down or kill switch broken?
Clutch pads 'freeze' when you don't ride your bike in a long time. (months)
Chances are, your clutch needs adjustment (not opening far enough to put it in gear). TIghten the cable adjuster behind the clutch handle.
If it stalls when you still have the clutch pulled in and have only put it in gear , it may be electrical issue....Do you have a kick stand kill ?

does it idle fine when its in neutral ?
It idles fine in neutral and it does have a kick stand kill. the honda guy told me it might be the kick stand kill switch malfunctioning. i really hope its not a clutch issue. i dont have the money to fix a clutch or tranny issue on my bike.
my money would be on the kick stand kill switch

Simple solution. Don't let the clutch out. LOL Sorry #8 I couldn't resist.
