Hi CBB, man I'm psyched! I'm a pound shy from reaching 50 lbs lost since Boxing day '07, WOOT! Got a question for you folks, do you get those sugar cravings every so often? If you do, how do you satisfy it? I made myself some sugar-free Jell-o last night and it satisfied those damn cravings that I'm hooked on the raspberry one now LOL.
Question is, how healthy is the gelatin in Jell-o? I know it's made from animal skin, bones and ligaments. I make home-made beef soup with beef bones and I do see the gelatin floating on top of the soup as well. I know that the sugar-free desserts are sweetened with aspartame and sucralose but they work great for me, I don't get any of the side-effects from them like the migraines, stomach cramps, etc ... plus I can control my carb intake as well.
So please post away, I'm curious to see what you good folks do to control your sugar cravings.

WOOT! :hu

I've heard that glutamine helps in between meals at 5-10grams in water.

PGX worked for me but I didnt stick with it as I had to use a ton of it, which made it inconvenient.

Splenda is still not healthy, but it is way better than aspartame. Esp on the nervous system as aspartame is a neurotoxin.

My danger zone is when I've finished everything for the day and its time to relax, hockey match on or whatever. These times I try to have light salads, and take melatonin to keep me from staying up late.

Oh yeah, when dieting to get my last bit of fat off, I take enough ephedrine to kill the average man.

I do not recommend taking ephedrine period.

are you having regular cheat days ie once/ week. save craving for then. cheat days restart your slowed down metabolism. give you a mental break plus its much easier to diet strictly all week knowing you get a reward once/ week. trick is you gotta do low carbs all week. then go to town on reload day.

I do have a cheat day once a week but I don't go crazy on that day with carbs. My first few days of lowering my carb intake hurt alot, lots of stomach cramps. I was bad for a long time, no one my height 5' 11" should weigh 274 lbs and still packing it on. I was 26 lbs from going on disability for crying out loud and god knows how I never became diabetic. Diabetes runs in my family.

go brush your teeth when you get those cravings. Sugar + toothpaste = disgusting. Makes the cravings go away, and if they don't you won't eat the sugar anyways because it'll be gross

Your carbs are too low. On your cheat day you don't load up on carbs either? I would try upping your carbs. Whole grains, fruit, vegatables etc. The whole low carb thing is nutty as it aversly effects thyroid, energy and leptin levels. I get real dumb (more so than usual) when carbs get too low so I don't worry much about them when dieting. I just make sure to eat less overall and go hog wild on my cheat days. Not sure when my next one is.... just got some nicotine gum to help get rid of those last few bf%

hey SH,

There is now no scientific evidence that aspartame is cancer triggering or unhealthy like they used to believe. Trust me a diabetic of 31 years i have had my share of sweetners and i am doing just fine.

Thanks Houstonbc, yeah I slowed my weighttraining down a bit now due to being crammed with work. I'm currently eating protein and low carb meals and walking alot, so cardio is my big thing now. I do take glutamine supps on top of my vitamins, I haven't lost any muscle definition yet and I wanna keep it like that :-)
Once I reach <200 lbs, I will switch to a maintenance diet of 100 carbs a day on off-days and up it to 200-250 on training days. I read that this maintenance diet is a healthy life long eating habit that controls blood-glucose and fat levels. I'm DONE with being overweight! :bch

if you get dumb on low carb diet its because your fats are too low, adding efas will fix that, also cheat days once/ week boost leptin levels back to 100%. the key to cheat days is lots of carbs and fats because their the only macros that will boost leptin. protein alone doesnt do it.

Low fat Cottage Cheese and no sugar Apple Sauce with a pk of splenda and cinnamon hold me over at around 4 pm.

I also like NO Sugar Fudgesickles. 50 calories

My new salt craving snack is Whole Grain Melba toast with salsa n them. About 85 calories for 4.
