Has anyone here tried this yet ? I ordered mine on the 27th of December so I should be getting it soon.

One guy that I lift with ( once in a wile ) has his and loves it. His bench has gone up 30lbs with the help of the sling-shot.

Here is a video of Mark Bell ( the owner / creator ) .

http://www.essentialsupplements.net/apps/videos/videos/show/12003350-how-to-put-on-the-sling-shot

Also if anyone would like to buy one of these I am bringing in 20 so just send me a PM and I will give you the details.

Got mine in the mail Friday. So far I have tried some pushups and wow this thing is great. I will be lifting monday or tuesday with this to see how much more it will help with my current training.

My partner has been about to put up 435x3 when 385 was his max.

I'm really interested to know if it's a useful training aid for benching, that allows you the freedom of not having to be in a shirt. By the looks of it, I'd much rather wear a SlingShot while training than have to struggle my way into a shirt...

Looking forward to a review!

Trust me it's a lot less hassle to put this on then to put a shirt on and less painful :)

The speed and strength that is generated with the sling shot is great. Monday i did 275x12 and that's a big endurance increase with NO shoulder pain for me. Normally I would be lucky to get 5 reps with that weight.

Also, you do feel it in your chest so I'm not worried about losing any chest strength ( raw ) like I did when I wore a shirt.

This will def save your shoulders from any wear n tear.

I had my friend , Kevin write up his thoughts on this.

Just got my slingshot from Supertraining in the mail on the 31st and today was my first day in the gym with it. To start with I was suprised about how it was made, looking at pictures i had made the assumption that it was built out of bands, but alas it is not. For those of you who have felt the Metal Black wraps, its very similar to that, its a very heavy weave with not alot of stretch, not like the lighter wraps that stretch like a mother****er. When i was trying it out at home its almost a workout just to go through the bench motion by pulling your arms back, like wearing a streatchy bench shirt. Once i got warmed up in the gym i threw on 365 which is a good tripple for me and pumped out 5 fairly easy reps, although about 30 seconds after i racked i sure felt my tris and chest. I went through 5 heavy working sets with various bar weights and found that it offered support through a complete range of weight, not just the heavy stuff. Its a very unique product that offers great support, it helps keep shoulder pain out of the equation, at least for me, and it helps overload your triceps and to some extent your chest. I think another advantage of this will be working with heavier weights all the time will make true raw weights feel light giving a guy a slight mental edge when you get under the bar. After pounding the shit out of myself i found a crazy fatigue in the long head of my triceps, my chest was definatly worked and will be sore and my shoulders still felt good enough that i could wipe my own ass without feeling like my arm was going to fall off. I am exceptionaly please with this product and look forward to next week cause im gonna use it again !!

Hey, Talo.

Now that it has been close to a year what are your thoughts on the slingshot? I have been thinking of getting one to help increase my bench.

I love it and so do the guys I train with. With my shoulder being injured for the past few months my bench has been shit - 250 hurt ! Put the sling shot on and bang out 330 easy. It takes the shoulders right out of the exercise.

When I was healthy 365 was my max ( raw ) and 405 with the Sling-shot.

Another example is Mike, he is up to 380 raw now , puts the sling shot on and hits 450. Then he can put his bench shirt on and bang out 535.

It's not exactly like wearing a shirt , but very similar. Well worth the investment.

I picked mine up here

Just ordered at an xxl at:

http://www.innerstrengthproducts.ca/slingshot

You must have had to get the xxxl? Looking at the sizing chart, it seems as though basically anyone hardcore enough to be using this would be using the larger sizes. I wouldn't expect a guy my size (small by powerlifting standards) would be fitting almost the largest size!

Will update once I try it out. Shipping is a little slow I think...

This intensifies the load on the tris?

I like it, I use an XXXL or an XXL depending. the XXXL is a bit loose but enough to add 20 to my lift. XXL add 35. I dont use it to bench more but to work the lockout for my bench. Kind of like doing board presses with more range of motion.

Talo

I use XXL also. Nice and tight helps to get a good rebound , works the lockout also and your arms will get a good pump too :)

Once you do get it try pushups with the SS - I'm sure you will be able to bang out 100's :)

Nice .

I know you’re a fairly tall guy ( 6'4 ) so how does that come into play ? What size did you go with ?

I'm 6'1 and like you have shoulder issues. Without training very serious since September I've been focused on my bench. Putting up 315 raw and then hitting 400 with the sling shot has really helped me overload. I don't know if this is normal ,maybe it's because my shoulders are so much weaker than my shoulders as it completely takes them out of the lift.

tex
15-01-2012, 04:31 PM
im using the 2xl....but its a bit small for me...the 3xl would probably work better as i have to pull the bar to touch....but that does kind of help me transition into shirted benching in the next 6-12 months.....shoulders are sore today but likely from the 40 rep burnout i did.....

Is the purpose of this to continue to use as an "aid" or is it training you in specific form and eventually you dont use it but still maintain the gains from it ?

I will continue to use it as long as I want to lift heavier than I can raw. It helps overload the system .

I got mine a couple months ago. I can't even use the damn thing. It hurts my shoulders which don't hurt at all benching raw. Had to put like 185 on just to touch but it moves the leverages down so it was touching below my sternum which I never do raw. I am just going to stick with board presses at least I can stay in my natural groove without pain.

If anyone in Edmonton area would like a brand new size large slingshot I will sell it for $30. PM me.

Just got mine in the mail this aft. This thing is TIGHT and barely flexes at all. Does it allow more range of motion when broken in? I tried to do a few push ups and it was literally holding my whole body weight up and wouldnt allow me to go anywhere near the floor. Is this normal?

Thats strange! My shoulders were injured which is what got me started with the sling shot...takes away the pain when benching for me! Of course, I think that is because the bottom part of the bench becomes so easy with the sling shot and thats where all my pain was.

Also, I can easily touch with a plate...maybe your's is way too tight??? I can do it without altering my form at all - just enough to take a slight edge off the bottom. I have xxl and am not really all that big.

Definitely normal! Mine isn't even all that tight and I probably can't touch the floor unless I bend the elbows a little. Mine feels really loose when I wear it, but I think that's all I wanted it for - just a little extra help - not trying to simulate wearing a bench shirt!

I agree with Steve on both posts.

#8 - it will break in over time , but you would rather it be to tight than to loose. I'm not sure what your current max is right now , but don't put on the SS until you hit that , then Im sure after putting up another 50-100 lbs you'll love it :)

I re-injured my separated shoulder last night so Im looking at probably another 2-3 weeks off from the gym. I think its another minor separation probably grade 1 instead of grade 2 like last time. I think its time to hang up the skates.

I don't have any powerlifting goals , I body build. So is this worthwhile in me getting acclimated to heavier poundages to use in 8-12 rep schemes or a waste of time ? I currently use 285x10 with strict form. One rep max is 355 with pause , which I rarely bother with. Maybe once a year.

did 315x3 for 2 sets today with the slingshot....and this was my 3rd time benching over 90% in the past 8 days.....i flat benched last saturday then did floor presses on tuesday and now flat benching again today....shoulders are sore but thats probably due to overtraining....deload next week

It does seem really tight, I just went with the size recommended based on relaxed upper arm circumference just above the elbow. It fits snug on the arms which I think it is supposed to but it really pulls my elbows in towards my body on the movement which makes it awkward. Can't stay with that natural 45-60 degree arm angle that I normally bench with.

Not that big of a deal, I am out a few bucks. I didn't get it for shoulder pain, was just hoping that over time it would help me bench more.
