Miami Officer John I. Fedak, a U.S. Marine reservist who recently completed a tour in Iraq, has been arrested on charges of buying steroids through the mail, police said.
...
''It's always disappointing when you have to investigate and arrest your own,'' said Miami Detective Delrish Moss, a spokesman.
Fedak, 26, was cuffed late Wednesday, charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Miami internal affairs investigators ''received information'' that Fedak, six-foot-two, 175 pounds, had been buying steroids for his own use.
Detectives teamed up with Miami-Dade police, the FBI and U.S. postal inspectors to send a phony delivery -- a package containing four vials of steroids -- to Fedak's home.
Fedak, knowing the package contained steroids, signed for the delivery and was arrested, according to his arrest report.
Fedak posted $5,000 bail Thursday and was released from Miami-Dade County Jail. Hired in 2004, he served on the department's SWAT Team.
Fedak did not return a phone call from The Miami Herald.

Its good to know the US is willing to put the combined resources of local police, internal affairs investigation, the FBI and US postal inspectors to such good use. Its no wonder they are leading the way in the war on drugs. Sounds like they took down a big player in the Miami drug scene.
I was gonna say the same thing, BB... a member of SWAT taking steroids should almost be a prerequisite... bunch of ****ing dumbasses... wonder how many man hours they invested in this crack team...

Surprising how they did that, as they tend to help each other as reported. I wish they'd legalize gear, as it's safe and then goverment can make money on taxes.

It should be a crime on how much money they spent in apprehending the officer. Probably cost them over 100k in tax payer dollars and a bunch more to process now in court and jail. Nimrods.

I think they were just trying to prove a point....maybe the principal of it....that they won't tolerate steroid use on the force or at least that one.
Fine, Mr O... BUT, I think sports and logic have told us that steroids makes you better... SWAT might benefit from that...
But, I guess we wouldnt want SWAT members getting roid rage, would we?
Stupid dillholes..

Cops don't need to be big and strong anymore. They have taser's now.

I'd lay odds that this was some sort of personal vendetta to get the guy off the force. There are far more and worse crimes being committed by police officers and the standard procedure is plausible deniability of knowledge by those who associate with the officer committing the crime, and then turn a blind eye. Ronnie Coleman they might not be able to ignore, but a 6'2" 175 lb guy. He isn't exactly flaunting it. Something else might well be up here.

what a ****ing joke.. once again they put effort into essentially setting somebody up.
This is stuff they shouldn't be wasting time on.
There is zero harm in ordering steroids for personal use. I do not understand why the gov is cracking down on this kind of bullshit.. they have far bigger things to deal with.
It still amazes me that they can even announce a bust and be proud of it?! Like they did some good or something??!
these people are so ****ing dumb it makes me laugh, but very angry at the same time.
what a ****ing waste of tax money... and time.

another thing I hate about the ****in police is this dude probably gets his fullpay until trial date..I know out here cops get full pay while off duty for charges..There was these vancouver pigs awhile back..picked up some ****in punks form the downtown part drove them to Stanley Park busted them up pretty good,(broked noses and facial brusing and left them there, the punks got lawyers, charged the pigs and trial was set for about 18 months later, all the pigs got paid leave for whole 18 months and a few of them even went on vacation together to Mexico while under full pay while on leave for assult charges...****IN BULLSHIT....

Ya..I guess you guy's are right....makes more sense!
I concur. doesn't seem right to me either. Someone obviously ratted him out. That doesn't happen between cops easily.

I'm I missing something?
I know that if my postal worker or CanPar guy showed up at my door with a package that I would have to sign for it, I would and then take it into the house and open it, wondering what is inside it and who sent it.
Would curiosity be criminal? Anyone can send a package that requires a signature, that does not mean there is something illegal in it? There is more to this. Like they have him wire tapped or something.
What is the law here?

Yeah sounds like entrapment to me as well... then again those who make the law can bend it as well.. pretty bad IMO
and like most of you said SWAT guys should be all jacked up...
