I have been training some of this guy's clients on his studio for about 1 year.

There have been some time where his paychecks came back and he promptly gave me cash .

Last one bounced and I have been trying to talk to him about it for about a week and no answer.

Not to emails, not to txt, his voice mail is full and I asked the receptionists to ask him to call me 2X and nothing.

I was about to leave the place anyways but I wanted to do this under my terms without creating any turmoil.

It seems that the boat is sinking: staff just disappears (I believe due to lack of payment as well or lack of business to the therapists), he is saving on lightning and some other small stuff that a so called boutique studio cannot.

No new clients walk trough the door no new business for me or him.:beat

The questions are:
1) Do I wait until the new year to leave, hoping that I can get paid for October, November and December?
2) If I live tomorrow what do I do to get paid anyways? I have no idea on how the Canadian legal system works.

well get in contact firstly and try to get your money, obviously no body wants to waste time in small claims without having to. If he refuses you need to get some evidence together of the hours you worked also contact the clients you trained and get them to sign a document that you trained them on such and such date. IF you have timecard or personal records that would also help. Your bank statement of the cheque bouncing should be key evidence that this guy did intend to pay you. So unless he can think of a good reason why he shouldnt have to ( you broke something or used his vehicles all year ) you should get your money
