Lets say you had $15,000 fall into your lap. How would you invest it short term? I ask because I plan to use the funds to build a home in 2 years. Just looking for the best options out there to capitalize some gains.
Thnx Trumps...

Well I had a similar question a while back and instead of investing it I boat a boat.....
BOAT really does stand for Bring On Another Thousand.
Had a wicked summer though!

Have a boat already brother...I have to use these funds for the house, hence the need to invest it before I spend it..lol

where your investment time frame is short term and your primary objective is preservation of capital, you dont want to take any unecessary risks. GICS, Money Market and many high interest savings accounts would be ideal investment choices. Speak to your bank or credit union about Tax Free Savings Accounts which allow you to invest up to $5000 (limit will increase annually based on rate of inflation ) per year, and if you havent contributed anything to date, you can carry foreward unused contributions limits from '09...therefore, in jan '11 you may be able to invest the entire amount in a TFSA sheltering earnings from taxes...even when you take it out, you dont pay taxes on your earnings.
good luck
