Hello ladies,
i'm going to be forcing my mother to the gym this month..shes getting older and shes always complaining about how her joints hurt and stuff shes 44 now. im going to try and coach her and make sure she does things correctly. she would like to lose weight but does not want to gain a whole lot of muscle... aside from cardio, what would you ladies recommend for a routine? mabye 3-4 days a week...also keep in mind she is a beginner. and if you want mabye throw in some good things for her to eat.

The german body composition would be a great program for her. Higher reps, great results as its big movements. it will do good for her hormones and joints...

Here's a example of the program

Circuit A

A1. Alternated lunges, squat or split squat 3-4X15-20
10sec
A2. DB flat press 3-4X15
10sec
A3. Stiff leg deadlift 3-4x15-20
10sec
A4. ez bar row or DB row 3-4x15
60-90sec rest

REPEAT

Circuit B (same day)
B1. Leg press 3-4X15-20
10sec
B2. Shoulders side lateral 3-4X15
REPEAT RIGHT AWAY or 60sec rest


to be done 2-3Xweeks (like monday, wednesday and friday)

Hello ladies,
she would like to lose weight but does not want to gain a whole lot of muscle...

How many times have we heard this line before.

I don't see any reason why she couldnt follow you're own training program. Unless of course you are specifically training for a sport she will not be doing...But if its just to get in shape, then everyone can follow a typical protocol. Sure, her joints hurt and it may take an adjustment period. and maybe some movement will be harder to follow...but she won't look like iris kyle no matter what she does, so just get her in the gym and doing basic movements.

lol I dont understand what it is with women, they think if they do one curl or one set of squats they're gonna look like Ronnie..

I would STRONGLY recomend that on this site.. you NEVER call 44 years young "getting Older!!!"
check my pics.. almost 40 years old!
check FelineCougar.. Past Mom's age.. How about White knight or 69 challenger!!

Now that you've been schooled in ettiquite!!.. get mom doing cardio at least 5 X a week and weights 2 or 3 times.. whole body is fine... put her through the machine circuit at the YMCA or goodlife or whatever... 2 sets 10-15 reps.. strengthen muscles, improve posture, grease up them "old" joints!! then tell her to put you over her knee and smack you some!! :)
