Add a few pounds to those calves and it wouldn't be nearly as easy.

Exactly his calves look like they have never been trained...

half of the powerlifters never train calfs, and most of them you would say don't have as much development there as other parts....but my point is, who cares? the guy obviously trains in such a way that he gets good at what he does - so why point out a weakness in his physique? Besides...not much he can do with monkey bars to develop those calfs, right?

LonelyBedouin

I suppose, but he is not a strong man, obviously I dont know what he does, maybe hes one of those parkour guys? But I never got why guys will train only upper body. My point before was if he doesnt train his calves what are the chances he trains his upper legs?

You don't see too many(any?)powerlifters with calves like that guys.Put a five pound weight between his ankles and see him try.You can always train your calves somewhere, right?

I didnt compare his muscle mass to that of a powerlifter in any way. I just said that who cares how small his calfs are. or how small his legs are. the only point to this was how freaky he was at the things he does. besides - its not hes got s huge upper body either...lean yes, but the guy weighs probably 150

Strength to weight he is very strong not to mention athletic and fonctional which should count for something unless you're just a bodybuilder I suppose. j/k A strongman could do no better at what he does than he would do picking up some atlas stones.

Who here could even come close to doing what he does with his muscles? He's not using a hammer strength machine to train thats for sure.lol

His abs and lower back are extremely strong. He uses them to pretty much defy gravity.

I was very impressed despite the diameter of his calves.lol

I did a lot of gymnastics between 12-14 years of age. When you're all upper body and have a tiny waist you can do a lot of things.

I agree cog

I guess my overall point is commenting on this fellows calves or amount of weight he is lifting overall because of his bodyweight is not relevant to what he is doing in this video imo.

Its as silly as when someone calls a powerlifter "fat" after he squats 1000lbs.

you don't have to lift heavy weights/stones/etc to be strong.

this terrible debate took place in another thread by #8 a while back. perhaps he isn't particularly good at squatting or benching but that is NOT THE ONLY OR THE BEST measure of strength

you're telling me a gymnast who can hold themselves in an iron cross on the rings isn't strong because he cant bench 400+ lbs?

don't be such a meat head

Dude,I could do a near perfect iron cross before I reached puberty...no bs.I also recall trying to lift some oly weights some older guys were using...being able to fly around on the rings and parallel bars doesn't mean you have the strength that comes from power cleans, deadlifting and squats...although I will admit that a one-handed giant is quite a feat. The guy in the vid can do some things, but so what,if he had to do something real like push your car out of the snow in Ontario at the moment he wouldn't do well.Lighten up.:)

it seems like some of you guy's have a hard time giving prop. to someone when they do somenthing special and by the way how do you know hes not able to deadlift or press heavyweight??? this shows you how some of you feel insecure seeing someone do something that they can't do them self.

Nothing insecure here.As I have mentioned when I was young I did a lot of rings and parallel bars...with a very small bottom and legs.A lot of rope climbing with my legs straight out in front of me...fast.When you're squatting heavy for a few years you're just too big in the butt and legs.Show me a guy with big quads that can do this and I would be very ****in' impressed.Yes he does a few things but he couldn't do them 40-60 pounds heavier IMO.Gymnasts are small for a reason. Some of them have really good shoulder and tricep strength. Not sure deadlifting jives with keeping your low back really flexible...

the reason he can do this is not because he has small calfs. Its great that you were able to do stuff on the rings and parallel bars when you were younger...but the reason you can't do that stuff now has little too do with calf or leg size.

when I was younger I could do all kinds of stuff that I couldn't do now. part of that is flexibility, and yes, bodyweight...but this dude is an adult, he doesn't weigh 40 pounds, and he's able to do lots of crazy shit that yes - probably 0.01% of the population could do...but its still impressive no matter what way you slice it.

You can't compare this stuff to powerlifting. apples and oranges. If I posted a video of some guy reciting pi to 1000 decimal places, would you say he's got small calfs so it doesn't matter? Or in a more similar analogy - perhaps say he's not intelligent since he is only good at memorizing, but perhaps not so great at writing an essay?

Remind me not to post videos here of myself doing deadlifts, because even though its triple bodyweight for a dozen reps, my calfs aren't up to par. Or is that ok, since having small calfs doesn't really give me an advantage like it does this dude in the park?

That's ok.Steve,if this guy had the dense muscle that comes from being able to do 23-26 reps with 315 like yourself(at 165?) do you feel he could do some of the moves he's doing?I doubt it.He's all upper body. And that doesn't cut it.:)

Who tells you the guy as no leg ?? cuz he as no calf? 90% of black people have no calf doesnt mean they have no strength.

my legs aren't that big...especially when I was 165. Yeah, it would be harder, but at the same time, my upper body is also bigger than his, so how fair is it to throw my legs on him without increasing his upper body as well.

and true...no one knows how small his legs are. But they are likely not much more unprportioned than 90% of the bodybuilders his size. how many guys 150 pounds have big legs? I'll say it again, the guy isn't huge up top either. and its not like he's able to do this because he's got bigger arms then legs. That doesn't cut it. His training is why he can do this stuff. Plenty of guys with his exact physique couldn't do nearly 1% of this stuff.

Even if I neglect to do chin ups for a month I'll lose about 8 reps on it.

I think the guy is actually stuffing things in his pockets to make those funny pants billow out.
