Hi guys and girls. Yesterday I had my 2nd Umbilical Hernia repair in the same place with in the same year. Had it done last Aug 17th, it tore open again early Nov last year, and has been getting worse since then. Before my surgery yesterday, the hernia was pretty bad. Sticking out almost 2 full inches and was the diameter of a small Christmas orange. It was getting strangulated, so I had the constantly kicked in the balls stabbed in the stomach feeling. Very happy it was fixed again. BUT, I was under the impression he was going to do a laparoscopic umbilical hernia repair with the mesh, as that's what he said he was going to be doing. Instead, as I was getting wheeled into the OR he told me he was doing an incisional hernia repair without the mesh, again!!! I asked why and could he please do the mesh, but he said he doesn't do the mesh nor did he order the equipment for the laparoscopic mesh repair on hand. So I just said ok well lets do it, but I hope this one holds. lol I wasn't at all mouthy and spoke to him with a lot of respect, but I felt like telling him off.
So I hope this one holds. Once I'm done healing I plan on doing Scott Abel's ab/core training to further build a very tight strong core. This will really help make this surgery last and hold strong.
Here is a pic of me yesterday 2 hrs post op

Thanks guys for the well wishes! I'm healing pretty darn quick, but still going to ease back into working out. Don't want to tear it open again. Should be back in the gym in about 2 weeks time.

They said they can't work down there, as my penis is too big and the vein supplying the blood, if cut, would cause me to loose all my blood in my body within seconds..... Take that psclit! LOL

I feel your pain and healing process. I had a Bladder and Uterus suspension operation 8 weeks ago. Couldn't lift more then 10 lbs for 6 weeks. Was hell.
I'm sure I lost 6-8 lbs of lean muscle mass in that time.
You have some sexy abs so it's not going to hurt you the same! Good luck to you.

Thanks so much guys and gals for the nice comments and get well soons. My post surgery nutritional protocol was pretty damn good, and it seriously contributed to my recovery. Here is what it all included:
60 grams USP 30 grade Ajimoto L-Glutamine per day
6000mgs of Ester-C spread through out the day
10,000 IU's of vitamin D per day
1 ProVit Multi pack per day
4 doses of MegaZyme by Enzymatic Therapy (Similar to Wobenzyme)
10 grams of HIGH EPA DHA enteric coated fish oils
20 Grams BCAA's
and a few other natural health products
I am pretty darn healed up, been 3.5 weeks since my surgery and I feel like I did 7 weeks post surgery last year when I had the same thing done. I just jumped back into working out heavy too soon and didn't work my core enough last year to keep it SUPER tight and strong like I was supposed to. As I said, this year I will be doing a very extensive core training program and lots of stretching and foam rolling to make sure my body mechanics are 100%. Hope this is my last surgery for my umbilical hernia!!!! Now I just need to work on my messed up back and make it better, hopefully.... But that's a whole other store in itself.
Thanks for caring everyone and I hope you all have a GREAT Christmas and spend some quality time with your loved ones! :)
