Just announced...
For the first time, IFBB pro cards will be awarded to competitors who win overall titles at the 2011 Arnold Amateur in men’s bodybuilding, women’s bodybuilding, fitness, figure and bikini. Arnold Amateur winners will also be invited to compete in the 2012 Arnold Classic, Ms. International, Figure International, Fitness International or Bikini International.

I've noticed a lot of women competitors from Canada doing that event. Is it one that a Canadian can go to without being a US citizen like the North Americans? Or must one get some special permission to do the show?

Qualification is...

top 5 from canadian nationals, north americans, or the candian naturals (formerly world qualifier)

although bikini has no pre-qual --- anyone can go (or so it states on the arnold website)

Plus the CBBF needs to approve you as they're footing the bill for entrance fees, hotel etc is what i read on the Arnold site as well.

Pro Cards will be awarded ONLY if the country rewards them. THE NPC will NOT be rewarding pro cards to any US citizin if they were to win the OVERALL. It is at the discretion on the country's federation only. So....IF a canadian wins the overall - the cbbf has to approve the pro card - not even sure the cbbf has anyone on the judging panel for it... and they rarely agree with the results of the arnold, which is definately rewarding a much different look than the cbbf does.



I looked on the Arnold Classic site and saw this too:
Pro cards are not awarded to U.S. competitors who win the Arnold Amateur Men’s and Women’s Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure and Bikini competitions. However, Arnold Amateur winners who go on to earn a Pro card through a sanctioned-qualifying event will be invited to compete in a future Arnold Classic, Ms. International, Figure International, Fitness International or Bikini International.
