Anybody know anything about this gym? Rumour has it that there is one comeing to town, it'd be great to have another gym but the searches i did on it don't look good. I don't see a whole lot of free weights..

I've never been , but they are popping up all over the place.

Definitely not a lot of free weights. No squat racks or olympic bars (at mine). It's really the only gym in my neck of the woods (Anytime Fitness is another 10mins each way), so I go there, but I'm less than thrilled with it...

Positives are good cardio equipment (at mine) and 24hr keycard access along with the no hassle month-by-month payments...I've been screwed over by other gyms - both Premier and Extreme in the past when I've left.

Does the owner on a snap have to keep it their way or do they have the freedom to play around with it ? Meaning can they bring in squat racks and more free weights if that what they seem to be lacking

Thats what i kinda thought,. I guess the plus side is some of the people takeing up space in our gym now will more than likely go to Snap.

I had a membership there for about a year, they had up to 100lbs DB's. The freeweight section was big enough to do a decent workout. There were no olympic benches or cages though. They had a smith machine and later the owner got a squat rack and more olympic bars. I guess it all depends on the owner...with some you can request equipment and they will bring it.

Paully I heard Anytime is opening in your area soon

I own all the Anytime clubs in Durham... what is it that you are not thrilled about?

Snap really sucks... I looked into opening one before getting involved with Anytime... one of the problems with Snap is that they dictate the kind of equipment you can have... no power cage and no oly bar... it's better than not having any gym to go to, but if there are other choices (and there almost always is) I would go elsewhere!

I do believe they have to follow a SNAP FITNESS protocol bro, for insurance reasons....

We are unstaffed just like Snap and have no problem insuring a gym with power cage and olympic bar... it's Snap's own decision to only have a smith machine...

I train at the anytime in just east of durham, Andre you know the owner. Anyway, I train there cuz of the hours, and thats about it. I can make due with the equipment, but thats more or less the owner choices. And, well, you've talked with him, lol. Hopefully the new location is better. He promises me a t-bar and a hack squat, but we'll see.

The snap at the edge of courtice looks silly, appears to be all cct equipment.

I meant I'm less than thrilled with Snap...more for the reasons mentioned. No olympic bar setup, no squat rack (I hate Smith machines), and a lack of plates.

If Anytime were closer, I'd change, but it's a good 15mins each way for me where it is now.

He has spoken very highly of you though bro. I'll come check you next time I'm in durham.
